We had the loveliest time at the Gableview Forest Inn. Satoshi and Elizabeth are so kind and helped us out hugely during our stay. Satoshi is an AMAZING cook. The food was incredible, so I definitely recommend having dinner at the inn! The room was super comfortable, it was great to have our own little kotatsu and the baths at the inn (both inside and the outside one with the forest view) were divine. If we are ever back in Nikko/Japan we will definitely stay again!

What a beautiful, traditional Japanese home with the most wonderful host, Hiro-san. He was so communicative before and during our stay, so accommodating with a great sense of humour. He went out of his way to take us to and from the stations, to dinner, etc. Special shoutout to Hiro-san’s gorgeous and gentle doggy companion, Marie-chan. And oh my gosh, the lovely bath prepared for us every evening!! If we are ever in the area, we will go out our way to stay here again. Thank you Hiro-san.

The host and staff were great and super friendly. They gave us recommendations about places and restaurants. We had such a lovely stay at the guesthouse. Everything was clean and the guesthouse has only few rooms so it was quiet at nights. It took only 1-2 minutes to walk to Tobu Nikko station and many cafes and restaurants and a kombini near by. We highly recommend this accommodation for your stay in Nikko. Thank you :)

Guest house was in a great location, really close to the train station and a family mart. The host was really friendly and helped us plan a hike with bus times and a guide he prepared himself. The toilets were modern and clean.

Our time at Stay Nicco Guesthouse was very nice. The location at the river about 5-10min from the main street and the next bus stop was very convenient and quiet. The cabin was sooo kawaii with a lot of attention to detail as well as well equipped and clean. Our host took the time to explain the surroundings and attractions of the area along with giving us tips on where to spend our limited time. His wife even drove us to the train station. We regret not staying longer and would like to return :)

Yoshi was a great host. Helped us to set up a great day to Senjogahara and beyond, good recommendations for meals, bus timetables etc. The place is very central but quiet. Enjoyed the photo, Yoshi is an expert, (not our usual thing). So happy.

Great hosts, location close to shops and lakes ( my room had an attractive lake view), and although it is a fairly compact guest house my room was a good size and each room has its own designated shower and toilet cubicle. You have a short walk to a Shinto shrine currently hosting a Treasures of Japan exhibition and the entry there of a walk that is long and testing to the top of Mt Nantai. Or take the bus up to the much easier walks of the wetlands or other attractions.

A great location next to the river and Shinkyo bridge. World Heritage area minutes away. Great access to everything. The room felt very luxurious with lots of personal touches. The breakfasts were amazing and the small bar was a treat after temple wanderings. Evening meal offerings were simple but delicious. The charming hosts made our stay very special.

Izumi is a great host. The traditional japanese breakfast was exceptional and always very well explained. (American breakfast was also available on request) The accommodation is located in a quiet area little outside of central Nikko but close to Shrines and temples. It has a wonderful view to a small creek. The room was well equipped and clean. We travelled by car and there were free parking spaces on the property.
