Everything was absolutely amazing! Kayoko is a friendly, extraordinary host, who made our stay as good as it could be. Her breakfast is also delicious. Make sure to follow her restaurant tips, which resulted into one of our best meals in Japan.

We had a wonderful stay. The hosts are very friendly and helpful, giving us useful advice on how to move around the town. Emiko speaks very good English. The hotel room looks just like in the photos posted on their website, and everything is very clean. The breakfast was fresh and slightly different each morning. The hotel is also well placed, just a few minutes walking from the bus station and the Keihan train Line (which reaches many touristic objectives in the city and up to Osaka).

The people i've met in Kokonoe Machiya. It's simply a place where you get the experience to meet new people and peer into their lives, given the chance. I've been lucky to meet Emily, Blanca, Eze, Sato-san, Chen and especially Tony, I won't ever forget this experience i've had during my stay. I've made a lot of good memories here, and I'll be visiting again for sure during my next stay in Kyoto ! I wish Tony, his wife, and everyone else i met here the best that I can wish for in life, and I look forward to meeting you guys again, hopefully soon !

The service was excellent. The owner was incredibly kind! We wanted to send some luggage to our next accommodation and and helped us by driving to office of the company which sends luggage, which was 20 minutes away by car, so she drove 40 minutes just for us!!! Also, the beds were nice, there was a small balcony and a little stove, as well as a washing machine.

- Friendly staff: everyone is very nice! The staff would explain to you all the instructions of your stay and help you as much as possible. They even made a customised key chain for you if you want your bed sheet to be changed. On the day of checkout, you can leave your luggage there and they would offer you for a rest in the living room when you return back to take your luggage. - Installation: there were all the necessary appliances in the living space which includes a microwave, water dispenser, fridge, TV, and even a leg massage machine (there were always people using it, it's very comfy). In my room, which was a 4 bed room, there was another TV just for the guests in this room. - Great location: very near to Teramachi and Shinkyogoku shopping streets. But it's very silent around the area so no worries about any noise.

Personalen var mycket trevliga och hjälpsamma, tex vad gäller både hitta och boka restauranger. Läget är centralt och bra på lite lugnare plats. Stilen på hotellet är japanskt och ingav harmoni, jag sov gott varenda natt under veckan vi var där (vilket jag inte brukar göra).

The house is a contemporary renovated town house, it is actually more spacious than the pictures shown and the lighter is much softer and warmth, there is a small backyard with a tiny pond in the middle, the 2nd floor have some interested hollow floor design with a foot bridge connecting the bedroom so you can see the first floor from the 2nd floor, the art collection such as some wall painting and slide door as well as the teapot collection is quite classy as well

The hosts are so lovely and kind! They were really flexible with my check in despite me arriving there well before the designated time. It's the perfect amount of space for a solo traveler; the tatami style room was very cozy and comfortable. Small kitchen space and fridge was also a plus. The location is nice as its not in the thick of the really touristy areas so it doesn't feel over-crowded, but it's easy enough to commute to popular spots via bus.
