Extremely hospitable and helpful hosts who connected us to a great guide (Alejandro) who took us to Los Nevados national park. The flower garden with views of the Andean foothills is very pleasant and the hammock patio that surrounds the house is a great place to relax. If you want a place to stay that feels like you're welcomed into a nice rural home then this is a great option. There is also a pair of modest outdoor bar/restaurants a short walk away for watching the sunset or looking at the lights of Manizales.

Offering a garden and mountain view, Hacienda Cafetera La Gaviota is set in Chinchiná, 44 km from Ukumari Zoo and 27 km from Viaduct between Pereira and Dosquebradas. We stayed at La Gaviota on the final night of a 6 day bicycle tour of the coffee region. It was quite remote, but we all felt it was entirely worth it - the ride to the farm from Marsella was gorgeous. Then, the next day, we cycled over Alta de la Mina, down to the highway, and to our pre-arranged ride back to Salento. Our hosts were very accommodating with dinner and then we had our coffee farm tour in the morning. The coffee tour was quite interesting -the history of how coffee came to this area of Colombia was quite interesting and it was apparent that our hosts, Carolina and George have a passion for their way of life. We even got to try our hand at various ways to prepare coffee. My only suggestions to other travelers is to be familiar with how remote the farm is, but I assure you it is well worth the trip! Also, do not order a glass of wine with dinner since you will need to buy the entire bottle and this was not communicated in advance. I did not complain since the overall value of the accommodation plus coffee tour was very good.

Featuring mountain views, Finca Hotel Villa Clara provides accommodation with water sports facilities, a garden and a shared lounge, around 40 km from Ukumari Zoo. We could write a long list of things that we loved about this property. To start, the grounds and view are absolutely stunning. We could see all the way to Manizales from the property! Our kids spent hours playing on the swing set, playing soccer, playing billiards, and swimming in the pool. In the evenings we watched Netflix in the room. The staff were so helpful and friendly, and Carolina, the host, went above and beyond to make sure our stay was memorable. She even took us on a tour of the coffee farm for a reasonable fee. We learned so much, had fun, and got to taste different varieties of amazing coffee! We ate every item on the menu at the on-site restaurant, and each was deliciously prepared by Lilianna, who adapted items for a vegetarian family member, and was so patient with our poor Spanish. We were very comfortable in our big room and the beds we so comfortable, when sharing with our kids we couldn't tell when they were rolling over. We slept, ate, and spent time well at Villa Clara. Highly recommended!

Set in Riosucio in the Caldas region, Senderito cafetero offers accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. The property features mountain views. I came for one day and stayed for four. This is an amazing spot in the hills around Riosucio. The staff were very friendly and helpful despite my limited Spanish. Thank you guys so much for having me and making this my favourite part of my travel in Colombia <3 The biannual Carnival del Diablo was on while I was in town. Very little information online but there were thousands of people there, and everybody was having a great time together. Lots to keep busy. The "glamping" tents out the back of the lodge are incredible. They're next to a little stream and very comfortable. There is a bus that runs every hour and a half into town and back. You can catch it near the main square, or ask one the taxis or scooters to take you up for around 10,000 pesos, if I remember correctly.
