One of our best hotel stays in recent years, our corner room had all the comfort we may have needed, including small details like umbrella, slippers, the way breakfast is presented, etc. We usually try to avoid staying in old buildings, but this one was clean and well equipped/maintained.

Featuring river views, Guntli’s family Guesthouse provides accommodation with a garden and a patio, around 33 km from Zurich Exhibition Hall. We truly enjoyed getting to know our hosts. Except for an occasional train, the location was very quiet.

Located in Oberstammheim and with Konstanz Central Station reachable within 41 km, Hotel & Restaurant Schloss Schwandegg provides a garden, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi and a terrace. We did not know what to expect when booking a room in a castle during winter time, especially as the price was more affordable or on par with other accommodations in the region. We were given an upgrade of our room upon arrival which was a pleasant surprise. We received a quite big, beautifully decorated room with a very comfortable armchair, and with a bathroom a couple of steps down the hall, which was not that big of a deal, especially when you think that you are in a castle, and castles did not have toilets in the room. Also the bathroom was modern, warm, and super clean so there was absolutely no problem on that end. It is still private. The location was very good for us as we had a plan to see Schaffhausen and Rheinfall and this is just 20 min drive away. We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant which was excellent as well as the wine which was from a winery below the hill. The hotel/restaurant staff were super kind, they really added a little extra to this wonderful experience. In the evening we enjoyed being in the courtyard, enjoying the silence and the view of/from the castle, it felt like we had it for ourselves. We would gladly come back, hopefully someday we will.

Set in Au, 21 km from Museum Rietberg, No1 Art B&B offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. The place is very unique and exceptional. The manager Arne is extremely friendly, helpful and can’t do enough for you. We arrived earlier than expected and our room was not ready so he made us feel very welcome with complimentary coffees and teas. He gave us advice on places to visit and a personal tour of the shop and it should have been his day off. Sven looked after us every morning for Breakfast, which was always freshly made according to our order and we got to hear some interesting stories from him. Overall an amazing base to explore the Zurich area and if we could rate Arne, his team and the hotel any higher we would. Thank you for looking after us and making our stay so comfortable.

The family-run Aparthotel Familie Hugenschmidt is located in the charming Seefeld quarter of Zürich, just a 3-minute walk from the green banks of Lake Zürich and a 5-minute tram ride from the centre. I made the booking for two friends, a newlywed couple. According to them, the owner was very kind and accommodating. They loved the open windows in the room and found the bed to be very comfortable. Also, they really appreciated the sweet little extras the owners did for their “honeymoon”. They would recommend.

This hotel is situated directly on Lake Zurich just a 10-minute drive away from Zurich’s city centre. The restaurant offers a lakeside terrace and free WiFi. I love the service, attitude, positivity of the front desk staff as well as the staff who helped to carry our luggage and welcomed us the moment we stepped foot into the hotel. They exceeded my expectations! This is such as nice place to stay in Zürich. The environment is entirely different from that near the Zurich Main Train Station. The room design is modern, v clean. The kitchen utensils were all of high quality, vv clean as well. Totally no issue for a clean freak like me. They even provided chauffeur service from hotel to the nearest train station. Service was just ups!! From the start till the end. Will definitely stay here again, if I go Thalwil!

Located in the village of Gibswil in the Canton of Zurich, the Gibswilerstube is right along the Way of St. James. It features a restaurant and offers rooms with free Wi-Fi. Very nice hotel where locals and tourists mingle. Great playground and racetrack for kids. Staff super friendly. We felt very welcome! And every hill/mountain in the area has an amazing cafe and things to do
