Location is excellent (near Maastricht), the facilities inside the house boat are superb (fully equiped kitchen, airco, digital TV, bathroom). The house boat is wel maintained and clean. The beds are comfortable. Surprisingly there were 2 bottles of Japanese and Chinese soy souce (ketchup) available in the kitchen's cupboard that have made our own prepared Asian dinner just more delicious. We asked for an early check in, and the owner fulfilled the request. We asked for a 30 minutes delayed check out, and the owner did not have any problem at all. The small boat we rent has made our stay more adventurous and enjoyable.

We loved every moment at De Stadswal! It was right in the heart of Maastricht, had very comfortable beds, our room had everything creature comfort we needed, the hostess was lovely and made us a wonderful breakfast each day. We also appreciated the eco-friendly touches throughout.

The rooms are brilliant; all individually designed - one room had dot-to-dot, the other wooden beams and a toilet in the entrance! The teaching hotel is run by first year students of the adjoining hotel management school and they could not be more helpful. The breakfast was a blowout, there is a bar and courtyard so you can soak up the sun there or go for a walk in the lush green grounds. You can rent bicycles - recommended for going into town as it is a bit of a trek by foot - but the peace and serenity makes a lovely contrast with the bustle of central Maastricht.
