Takao, Kyoto
Along the Kiyotakigawa River, Momojiya Annex offers traditional rooms with a private open-air bath and forest views. It features public baths and free wired internet in public areas. Such beautiful surroundings in nature. The property itself and the stunning scenery around it with great hikes and temples. The attention to detail by the Staff, the feeling of a truly authentic Ryokan experience was excellent. In more ways than I could ever express, this stay exceeded our expectations.
Takao, Kyoto
A quiet traditional Japanese inn along the Kiyotakigawa River, Momojiya of Takao offers Japanese-style rooms with forest views, public baths with mountain views and free wired internet in public... The traditional kaiseki dinner and breakfast was excellent - food was plentiful and delicious. Staff was very warm and friendly. We were able to book the private open air bath (additional 4000 yen), but the water was hot and the mountain view was lovely. (Best to arrive early if you are planning to book a private bath as preferred times get snapped up quickly). There is a path where you can hike up to a temple nearby, but there really isn't much else in the area.
Takao, Kyoto
Offering Japanese-style rooms with river views and an en suite bath, Takao Kanko Hotel is 600 metres from Jingo-ji Temple. The facilities, the location (green, peaceful), the food and most importantly the staff. Everyone was very friendly and very helpful. If you want to get a way and experience good old style, traditional Japan. This is the place to go.
Takao, Kyoto
A 10-minute drive from Kinkaku-ji Temple, Ryokan Yamazaki offers a hot public bath and serves breakfast and traditional dinners for an additional fee. I was traveling together with a friend and she preferred to book a place a bit outside of the city. The place is still very accessible by bus (stop is almost in front of the house), or even the tram if (you don’t mind a 15 minutes walk). The staff was very kind and welcoming and you will easily get along with English, if you don’t speak Japanese. The rooms were tidy and comfortable and would also recommend to take the Japanese breakfast in the house. Cannot judge the dinner since we usually returned late and ate somewhere else. Highly recommend the ryokan!
