Super cheap dorm hostel (single room is a dorm I think that confuses people), it's super tidy and neat, they give you free water and toothbrush/paste and towel and soaps which is crazy for this cheap. Don't know why it's got bad reviews, it was really one of the nicest sleeps I've had. Has a lovely rooftop too. Reception says they aren't great in English but I think it's absolutely fine and I'd recommend just learn a few words of Indonesian if you're staying in yogyakarta anyway. If you're trying to find it on Google it's called hotel Penak malioboro. Fantastic location for this price. Loved it :)

It's very clean, located in a calm area, all the staff is fantastic, the owner is around the hostel during dinner time. She's very friendly, chats to guests and gives a lot of valuable info. One of the rooms is located next to the common area, but it doesn't usually get very noisy. Breakfast is simple, but effective. Dinner is very tasty, all you can eat until finished. Two communal meals mean it's a very social atmosphere. Water, coffee and tea are also included. They'll help arrange scooter rentals and tours, all for a very fair price. I've been to many hostels in Yogya but nowhere as good like this one, absolutely recommend it!!
