This was the trip of a lifetime for my family as my mom had lived in Athens over 40 years ago. She had wonderful memories of Greece, and I think this trip just made it better. Afroditi and her beautiful home were a big part of that. She was responsive in the months leading up to the trip, answering all my questions, doing research on things for me, and then when we arrived she was checking in to make sure everything was comfortable - even while she was on holiday. She resolved a technical issue with the internet company by calling them for us immediately and getting it working within a few minutes (the issue was on the company's end). She provided lovely breakfast (pastries, bread, fruit, sausage, etc.) and food options in the refrigerator, which were a big relief when we got in after a long travel day. Honestly, she made us feel so at home. And that's even before we talk about the beautiful space! The rooms were incredibly comfortable, the beds were super cozy. She even left towels and slippers for each of us on our beds. It was a massive heat wave so we were inside more than we anticipated, but the A/C units in each room were so helpful to make sure each of us could set up the temperature as we wanted. The living room was super cozy, and I liked being able to decompress in the evening by watching a movie together just like we're at home. We even made dinner in the kitchen a couple of times and often used her panini press to make sandwiches before heading out on excursions for the day. In short, this felt like being at home. I'm so grateful to Afroditi and I hope one day to come back and hopefully meet her in person just to hug and thank her. This was a really special trip for my family, and I'm so grateful we were able to be in this space together for it.
