A beautiful region, with excellent restaurants. The Grootrivier and (Western Cape part of) the Bloukrans River passes are exceptional, as is Nature's Valley. The Birds of Eden is THE world leading bird conservancy -- the biggest anywhere with free flying birds in a magnificent forest with a beautiful kloof, waterfall ,,, The nearby Monkeyland and Jukani conservancies are also probably the best in Africa. Thyme & Again restaurant is also a favourite.

This is definitely not a family holiday spot! It could, at best, be a backpackers lodge. The water in the bathrooms was brownish, and although there were assurances that it was healthy, we were sceptical. The rooms were tiny and barely furnished. The kitchen is communal and almost 100 meters away from the rooms - very inconvenient for those rainy days! What about the toilet and bathroom outside the rooms! Its a wonderful place to stay, especially since it is 18kms from Plettenberg Bay, so its more serene than Plett over the height of summer. There is a lot to do in the vicinity. We loved our visits to the elephant sanctuary (an absolute must-do), the wolf sanctuary, Birds of Eden, Tenikwa (wildlife rehabilitation), Jukani (wildlife sanctuary, especially for Big Cats) and Monkeyland. There's a super water park (Adventureland) about 19kms away, with fabulous waterslides. We made the mistake of not booking restaurants for dinner in advance. Over late December / early January most places were fully booked, which really limited our options and we spent a lot of time calling around, which we could have avoided. I would scout the restaurants and book well in advance next time.

The hosts are such a friendly and lovely couple. The host made us very delicious breakfast and brought it early as we asked the previous night. We enjoyed our stay a lot, it definitely was a good value for money, quite close to Nature's Valley. There's also a supermarket nearby.OlenaUkraine

The Villa is outstanding with the lovely rooms, resident animals/friends who gave us lots of cuddles, fabulous food and the host are very caring. I felt like I was wrapped in a warm blanket of care. Scrumptious breakfasts and phenomenal dinners. I cannot recommend this place enough! Luckily we spent three nights here but would have loved to spend even more time.

You have everything you need to cook a very nice breakfast and wine and beers are also available to purchase if you want. Bear in mind there aren't restaurants near by.
