When we checked in we asked for a different room due to the smell and the tub was filthy! As we checked in the other room the bathroom was still dirty, so dirty there was old shampoo and conditioner bottles at the top of the shower. The room was dirty to say the least!

Enjoyed the location, accommodations and breakfast .
Enjoyed the location, accommodations and breakfast . I was not expecting waffle makers! That was my kids favorite part. Other than the property needing upgrades to make it more modern, it was fine for a short— maybe a week lodging.
Tip: If you prefer non smoking, you can request at booking at they will make every effort to do such. We were on the third floor room 311 and it lived up to the non smoking rules . My kids and I thank you immensely for this as we have major allergies to smoke.

I was on this visit for work - but I have been here many times. I also went to college at Purdue Northwest so I was through here several times in between campuses. The city is fine - very spread out but a lot of things to do - especially if you are are of Eastern European descent and looking for a cultural experience. I enjoyed driving past the Serbian churches. The mall is nice and several unique places to eat. I did enjoy shopping at the Goodwill store and eating local pizza. It is a great stop if you are headed to Chicago - and the local towns of Munster, Crown Point, Hammond, and Schererville are also cozy little towns to find unique things to do.

I would look elsewhere for my next stay.
I would look elsewhere for my next stay. There were no amenities for the price we had to pay. The room key card didn't work either morning when we came back to the room. They held a $50. deposit and $20. per dog. My dogs travel all over and stay in hotels all the time. There was no carpet, I swept the floor before we left the room, packed up all the trash and did not leave a mess. When I went to check out just at 11:00am, there was a sign that the office staff would be back shortly. 11 was when check-out time was, why would you not have staff available for checking people out?

You know, I should have known better. there was a reason the place was so cheap; "you get what you pay for". the picture online is very misleading, strategically taken so that what you see is not what the rooms look like. I should have taken pix of all the dirt, cracks, and once again, dirt, that so stood out in my room, #102. cheap thin towels, thin soap (2), no shampoo or conditioner, no coffee maker, bath door punched in, huge crack in the ceiling over my bed. Microwave that had its own mind. Refrigerator with missing pieces inside to hold stuff in the door. I am not a negative person, and, I generally tend to overlook small nuances, but, this was almost laughable, and that is the way that I see it. I made a mistake and went for price over quality! Plain and simple.....my bad! Anthony John

Hotel was suffering from water damage in about half the facility. We were not informed about the problems, even when we checked in. It affected our stay significantly, from breakfast to access, to quality of air within the hotel. Asked for room close to elevator, but got one at the far end of hallway. Not a good stay.
Breakfast not great. The hotel was dirty, carpet, common areas. My room was ok. The bed was clean and comfortable. For the price point I did not have high expectations. The staff were hard working and knew their jobs, they just don’t have much to work with in terms of property. AND the driveway was full of potholes!!!!! I had planned on staying at the Hampton and will if I come to Merrillville again!
Good location near highway exit, but needed a sign for the hotel at one of the entrances to its parking area.
Breakfast area was nice with good view of garden, but it would be nice to add more to their basic selections, such as instant oatmeal packets, and breakfast rolls instead of plain white bread.
It was a clean property but was not aware of the water damage in the hotel. falling wallpaper and missing ceiling tiles on the thirds floor. and the second floor had several rooms with mattresses up against the windows visible in the parking lot.
The rate was very reasonable and the location was superb. Everything was nearby as the Southlake Mall was literally right down the street from the hotel. Restaurants were scattered all along the main road just mere yards away from the hotel.
I was surprised at how comfortably I slept. Honestly, I was so comfortable, I'd stay at this hotel just for vacation. The room itself was spacious and the TV big, but that bed mattress was out of this world.
I did not get to stay in this motel after driving 1000 miles from Massachusetts because the hotel is listed as having a open pool and that they except pets . They don’t have a pool and do not let pets .
Check in was easy, beds were comfortable, mini fridge was cold and had a small freezer. My son also enjoyed the mini waffle maker for breakfast, it was a nice touch that many hotels don't have.
It was very nice and clean. A lot of space and really enjoyed having a kitchenette inside the room. I would definitely be staying at the hotel when I return to the city.
There wasn't any breakfast at all. I was at Candlewood Suites; Merrillville Indiana I feel that there should have been some type of breakfast at an IHG facility.
