Stratford Inn, hotel in Ashland

Stratford Inn is located in Ashland. Free Wi-Fi is provided in all rooms and a hot tub is available on site. Central Ashland is 5 minutes’ walk away.

We loved our stay at the Stratford Inn, and we would like to stay there again the next time we're in Ashland. Prices are very reasonable, and the location is fantastic! Lithia Park and all the popular shops and restaurants in the heart of downtown are only 10 to 20 minutes away by foot or 5 minutes away by car. Guest parking is plentiful. The neighborhood is also fairly quiet, and it felt safe to be there, even after dark. This hotel is also convenient because of the Safeway supermarket that is literally one block away. Everybody at the Stratford's 24-hour front desk was very friendly and helpful, and Cindy, the lady who oversaw the continental breakfast room every morning of our three-night stay, was an absolute gem. She was diligent about keeping all the food and beverages and utensils well stocked so that nothing would run out, and she even found time to chat with all the guests, make them feel welcome, and offer suggestions on local attractions to visit if they were new in town. She radiated such genuine warmth and caring that I found myself looking forward to seeing her every day. She even remembered people's names from one day to the next, which I thought was amazing, considering how many people come and go from the hotel. I also really liked the indoor swimming pool, which was within view of the hotel lobby. Even when I was at the pool area alone or with one or two strangers, I felt very safe because I could see the front desk. Another thing that I liked was the bedding. Just as you'd hope, it was really clean, but what really made an impression on me was the fact that housekeeping made the bed with three sheets: a fitted sheet, followed by a flat sheet, then a comforter, and finally another flat sheet on top of that. Sandwiching the comforter between two easily washable and dryable flat sheets keeps the comforter much cleaner.

Quaint town. Neighborhoods and housing were nicely kept. I loved the layout and PNW-mountainy feel. Cute downtown areas with both a modern and traditional feel; i.e., modern amenities with a small-town feel. I didn't know there was a Shakespeare festival every year and would love to come back during this time. It's also a great place for outdoor activities like skiing, snowboarding, hiking, biking, etc.

We love Asland and the downtown area, and the shops, and restaurants and Caldera Brewing Company too. It is close to many wineries also, and attractions. If you like plays there may be something playing outside or inside that you like. We like the fact that there isn't a sales tax on most items too. We like Medford with it's Fred Myers grocery stores, and Harry and David with their food, and wine tastes. We love Jacksonville also and the Union Patio Bar and Grill where we eat on the outside patio, and their food is delicious, and they have a great happy hour over by 5PM, however, and the town is very historical. We drove to Lake of the Woods from there and it was nice to see that area with views of Mt McLaughlin, and a restaurant and bar area, and campgrounds, and boating and swimming. Crater Lake National Park is drivable from there, but it would be a longer drive. Grants Pass is also not very far, and there are many wineries there too.

Ashland is so beautiful, we finally took the time to go left off of HWY 5 and check it out! The downtown scene is very lively, loads of restaurants to check out, good variety as well. Worth a visit for sure!

We came for 2 plays at the Oregon Shakespeare Theater and enjoyed it immensely. Great restaurants, great bike path, and wonderful, wonderful ambience. Bear creek bikeway is one of the great trails in all of Oregon! Omar's Steak House is circa 1946 with wonderful food & atmosphere. We come down from Portland every year!

We were there for a play by OSF and we were not disappointed. I've always loved productions by OSF. The Breadboard had delicious breakfast, really nice staff too. My husband loved Morning Glory for brunch. Downtown is lovely to walk along. Overall we enjoyed Ashland and hope to return.

We had such a great stay...some particulars: private entrance with parking right by the room, hot tub use; there's a barbecue, fire pit and a back yard area. If you are into star watching, you can go out back and see the stars at night (we brought our telescope). Mini fridge and toaster in the room, the bed is comfortable, and you get snacks and plenty of water bottles when you arrive. The shower is good for tall individuals. Lisa and John respond quickly and are just really nice people. 10 minutes to downtown Ashland.

The check-in was easy and well described in our welcome message even though we arrived around midnight. The location was in a quiet neighbourhood close to the city center. The whole building had a cool and vintage vibe which translated into our booked room ‘the artists abode’. The room was executed very well and we both liked the style of the interior. We particularly enjoyed that the space felt as a small apartment with soul rather than an ordinary hotel room experience. We will definitely come back if we have the chance.

This is our second time staying at the Plaza Inn and Suites and we absolutely love it! We feel welcome and the accommodations/rooms are so comfortable. The staff are helpful and courteous and put my fears about not being able to traverse the Siskiyou pass due to snow to rest. We will definitely continue to stay here in our future travels to the Pacific Northwest. The location is perfect. A stone's throw to downtown Ashland which we found highly convenient.

We love this location for visiting our son at SOU. We have stayed here several times and the staff has always been helpful. This is not ideal if you want to spend most of your time in downtown Ashland unless you plan on driving there or going on a 30 minute walk each time. However, it is an easy 5-10 minute walk to several decent restaurants in South Ashland and 7-11 is right across the street. For the money, it is hard to beat.

Comfortable beds, lack of carpet so clean floors, looked / felt renovated, 3 sinks in room (double queen room), few min drive from downtown Ashland, very spacious room, breakfast was fine given room price. Room had a kitchen with 2 burners and sink that we didn't use but would've if we stayed longer!

The location is superb! Very short walk from the hotel to downtown (shops, theater, restaurants, etc) and next door to a grocery store if you need to pick anything up. While the hotel is on a pretty major road, I heard no noise from my room which looked out onto the road.

It's a town that lives for the Shakespeare festival, so know that as you start looking at places here. I actually used to stay at the Ashland Hotel, but thought I would mix it up. Stay was just fine. It's what a best western feels like.
