The visit was principally in order to visit the Gem Stone market but there are plenty more places to see. The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is well worth a visit. A number of Temples are there too.

Going through the Taksin shipyard and reviewing things there. Has character and some past history I am sure. We ate at the resort because they order whatever you want and their family brings it in for you at anytime. Breakfast was exceptional, a mix of european and thai and fitted our family. Easy to get around; however, would try and find an easier route to get to the Meena, we did not have GPS, so we ended up inside of the town and had a long drive to the resort.Suzanne PThailand - 6.0Scored 6.0

We went to the National Park, which was close, to see the waterfall. Ha ha ha ha, climbed up many steps and there it was, a little trickle of water falling down a hill....ha ha ha ha. Would not recommend this tourist attraction. Of course, I have been to real waterfalls, and so maybe that has something to do with my remarks.

This hotel/ "resort" is located about 1/2 km down a Soi from the main road. The rooms are more like stand-alone apartments or houses, with a lot of gravel parking. I booked the cheapest room, and the room was large and clean for the price. The check-in and check-out was very smooth and fast. She was super helpful to organise a motorbike, bus pick up to Trat, tips for the city walk and was just super nice. Rooms were clean, shower warm and breakfast yummy. Terrace is very cosy with river view, perfect for a beer before bed time. Located right in the city center, it was perfect for a one day stay. If I get through Chanthaburi again, I'll stay there for sure!
