If You visit Porto its the very best views to see it from Vila Nova de Gaia. There are good restaurands ,and not very expensive. The riverside is lively and you should take a gable to the hillside. It is not so far away from Porto so you can walk there.

Beautiful part of Porto, right over the river with plenty to do. Most of the Porto wine "caves" are on this side of the river but getting across is a quick uber ride. We did a Tuk Tuk tour as well and got to enjoy a Fado performance at night. New Years Eve dinner cruise was great but book ahead so you don't miss out! Vila Nova de Gaia is the perfect place to stay when visiting Porto. The views of the Dom Luis 1 bridge and the city are exceptional. All the port houses are this side of the river and it is full of restaurants and bars.IanUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10
Being across the river from the old town means gorgeous...
Being across the river from the old town means gorgeous views and a wonderful relaxed vibe. So many great places to eat and drink all within a short walk. And the old town is easily accessible by foot, tram, even cable car. You are surrounded by the port warehouses, and other renovated industrial buildings. The whole area has had a recent facelift and the city as a whole is very safe and friendly. Everywhere you go the staff and shopkeepers go out of their way to make sure you have an amazing stay. Except the lady in the tourist information. She must have been having a bad day!

Great for walking, views and access to historical areas of both sides of the river. People are suer friendly, and the area is very touristy. We walked the waterfront for several miles and had a great time, as well as the normal touristy stuff.IanPortugal

Carla was the best host. so friendly, gave us good tips on tourist attractions and anything we asked. Hotel is charming. Carla was a wealth of knowledge and provided so much intel for the area!! prior to our arrival , the company sent us instructions for our arrival with respect to code keys etc so no time was lost waiting around.( Carla was at site anyways so showed us all of the required codes or keys)RonCanada

Just a relaxing haven to come back to. Rooms were spacious and well appointed. We were in the historic house with river view.... and the gorgeous garden. The staff was exceptional! The food at breakfast and for dinner was delicious with loads of choices. I will recommend to anyone i know who is coming to Porto/Gaia area! THanks so so much for an excellent stay!LindaCanada

I have selected a specified check-in, however, I arrived earlier in Porto since my Alfa Pendular met the scheduled arrival time. Even tho, they checked me in an hour before my requested time and didn't charge any extra. The hotel location (Coimbrões) can offer a vast number of buses and trains to Porto-Campanhã or Gaia. You can do a 20 minutes walk to Gaia-Devesas station, which isn't that far from the hotel.Duarte F.Portugal

I was taken back by how friendly everyone was, the staff are a real credit to this hotel. The outside bar is beautiful & we couldnt keep away. Our room was large, stylish, incredibly clean & comfortable. The whole hotel is incredible value for money & felt more like a 5*. If i return to porto (which one day i hope too), i will 100% stay again.

It was nice to get out of the city at night and relax with the ocean breeze. Walking on the beach paths in the morning was peaceful, stopping along the way with many cafes.
