Set in beautiful grounds with a unique rustic authentic feel. When I asked the staff for help with anything they were very obliging but sadly not overly pro active. Located a 20 minute walk from the eco via, which takes you on an hour walk into Ponte de Lima. The spa is a nice touch but definitely not ‘luxury’ and the flagship goats milk bath and massage although lovely was overpriced. The hotel also allowed me use of their bikes free of charge.

Great value. Excellent, helpful staff. Not the greatest golf course - but its character made up for that. Great wildlife around.

Excellent hotel in the center of Ponte de Lima in the pedestrian zone, short walking distance to the river. Very spacious and clean room with a good shower. As our room was in the corner of the building, our views from the small balconies and directly from the bed were facing two different directions, having an excellent view of the church, right next to the hotel. The staff was very nice and helpful, communication quick and easy, and the breakfast great and abundant. Several cafés and restaurants are located nearby. Central bus stations (buses to Porto, buy the ticket online, as there is no one at the station) just 15-20 min walking distance. In all, Mercearia da Vila is a very recommendable hotel, if you are on the Camino or just visiting Ponte de Lima which is a nice town surrounded by beautiful nature. We would definitely come again.

I paid 49 euros for a double room with a private bathroom with a bath. Breakfast wasn't included but I still think this was a bargain. It was so comfortable and looks much better than in the photos. It was a little walk up hill from the centre of Ponte de Lima which was a shame but it was still in a lovely area with supermarket and restaurants near by.
