Rachel and Ed went above and beyond to ensure we were not only comfortable during our stay, but had a great time in Siquijor too. Ed drove us around to find the last bike available for hire (we visited over Easter so was busy), Rachel made us tasty breakfasts in the morning and saved us when we didn't have enough cash for the tuktuk on arrival, and they were both always around for a chat and to ask questions. The miniguide of Siquijor they had created was also really well put together, and took the stress out of planning things to do.
The cottages Ed has built are beautifully designed - yes, there is no AC, but the high ceilings and amakan walls make the rooms lovely a breezy even when hot. The bathroom was probably my favourite feature - perfect mix of outdoor living but enclosed enough that you didn't feel like you were exposed to all the elements of nature. Earplugs are provided for light sleepers, but I didn't find the area to be that noisy with animals compared to other places we stayed. I would say my best nights sleep in the Philippines were at Kahoy Cottages!!
The location is the perfect distance from restaurants, beaches, etc. but far enough away that you could escape for some quiet. You will need a bike to get around, but that is standard for anywhere in Siquijor. I also liked that there is a marine sanctuary a short walk away, where you can go snorkeling and see lots of cool marine life.
I would absolutely return here if I ever find myself in Siquijor again. The place is already great and I can't wait to see it grow as the business grows - all the best and THANK YOU Rachel and Ed!!

Very relaxed island, plenty of interesting trips but you need transport. Most people hire a scooter... It is generally more expensive than the main islands of the Philippines. Our favourite accommodation was Coco Grove Resort... but it is not cheap.
The sunsets are spectacular on certain nights. Many variations of places to stay and restaurants. Diving and snorkelling is good...
Yes recommended a week is adequate to see most interesting places.

This is the only place I have been in the Philippines so far that felt both clean and beautiful. Litter was minimal and vegetation was lush. Driving around the island is very easy (as long as you choose the paved roads).
Highly recommend diving here if you are a muck diver!

There are a lot of things to do in Siquijor, whether you are a group of friends or a family with small children. Although prices have increased through the years and attractions now come at a price, it is still not as expensive as other destinations like Boracay. Siquijor has that "undeveloped" and raw feel too. Food is also good. While we were able to eat at restaurants, my kids loved the local barbecue (isaw, etc.) the most. The locals speak English very well, even tricycle drivers and attraction guides. They are very helpful and friendly as well. No wonder a lot of foreign tourists visit. In fact when we were there, there were more foreign tourists than domestic ones.

What i liked best was also the thing that I liked least.
What i liked best was also the thing that I liked least. It is no hugely feared up for tourists so had a lot of natural charm this also limited options for eating out etc, there weren't many restaurants within a close proximity to the hotel.
