Everything is perfect about this place. The road from Auckland to the property was a bit rocky but totally worth the trouble. It is such a quiet relaxing hideaway and this is what I have always envisioned of NZ. Aaron and Danielle are wonderful hosts and make you feel welcomed and at ease the whole time. The dinner prepared by Chef Dom is also superb. Have to come back again for a longer stay!

This is a very unfortunate review to write as the location is stunning and beautiful, my partner and I had travelled from overseas and were looking forward to this stay. We had to travel quite far to get here but once we arrived, we were breath taken and it was all worth it we were also left a handwritten note and a bottle of bubbly which was super nice!
Situated atop a cliff above Kariotahi Beach, Castaways Resort boasts views of the Tasman Sea. It is 10 minutes’ drive from Waiuku and 70 kms drive from Auckland city centre.

The accommodation was terrific, as were the hosts (including Rusty). The breakfast supplies were very welcome and got the following day off to a great start. Beds were comfortable and the well equipped kitchen was very useful too.

I really don't want to book a "standard unit" look at the pictures they advertise and think I have a romantic getaway then end up in half a 20ft container.
Limited facilities. This camp ground might have been okay in the 1950's. It is well below standard now! You can't tell me I am in a bungalow then expect a 10ft container to be okay. Our stay here was awful. I will go back to Port Waikato but I won't go back here! $156 for two nights of hell!

Almost no facilities in the village.
Almost no facilities in the village. If you require supplies such as main meal food beer wine or for that matter any alcohol they are not available within a 45 minute drive. We had to waste 2 hours going back to civilization to obtain decent food. The local store is VERY small and doesen't seem to care.
