We only visited the Supermarket as we had a Marie function just out of Hastings. We were there most of the weekend. It was beginning to rain when we all left and rained all the way to Gisborne. Hastings looks very tidy and upmarket. I hadn’t visited Hastings for many years. It was great.

This was a visit for a whānau gathering, so my itinerary was pretty much planned before I arrived. I know Hastings well and there are many great things to keep you busy and entertained if you choose to holiday here. If you are coming to Hastings then a stay at Portmans is a great choice. Nice facilities, great location, really cool owners and staff. You can't go wrong!

This is a lovely friendly town and region.

This is a lovely friendly town and region. I’ve traveled here yearly with work and holiday for several decades. Even a week or so after the Feb 2023 cyclone slammed this town it was back up and running for visitors. Even with a lot of bridges closed, traffic still flowed ok with only minor delays during rush hours.

I was in Hastings to participate in an early morning fundraising activity so I was focused on accommodation, food, ease of getting to the fundraising site and buying seasonal fruit. Got seasonal fruit on Sunday as they would not be open on the stat holiday on Monday. Accommodation is good - cheap, well maintained, central location Food - Could not find a restaurant so got take aways Asked at large supermarket in Hastings for location of Flaxmere Park - staff discussion between 5 people resulted in none of them having heard of it.

The room itself was very clean and well presented. Staff were great and were accommodating even though we arrived early for check in. After a long drive from Tongariro, this was greatly appreciated. Room was quite spacious and everything was there, although we didn’t use these, but great to know for future reference. We only stayed for one night as we had to travel down South. But highly recommend and will definitely book again if given the chance again to go to Hastings. Cheers!

The fabulous lady at reception knew what was going on in town and was able to guide us re-taxes etc for Napier. Property is easy to find, close to Hastings city. The breakfast that was available at the Motorlodge was fabulous. Partner had cooked breakfast, the bees knees! And the continental breakfast was huge. A bonus was there was real milk and the unit and on the breakfast trays, not tiny little milk sachets.

We were arriving on Xmas day and we were very grateful and appreciative that we were able at time of booking, to arrange early check in and pick up of key, as we were travelling through Hastings to spend Xmas Day with family in Poukawa Valley and it made sense to pick up keys early and not have to travel back in to Hastings & out again just to do check in. Well appointed rooms, friendly staff.

Room was very spacious and tidy. Beds were comfortable. Free unlimited wifi was awesome too. The room had snacks we could purchase, we found this handy for a road trip back home. The freezer worked amazing and keep our water bottles nice and cool. The owners were lovely and welcoming. Would definitely stay here again as my family and I travel to hastings often.

The house was incredible and spacious for my family of 5 (2 adults, 2 teens and a 9 year old). Would recommend to all visiting Sunny Hastings for the short or long stays. Close to amenities and most food outlets. With splash planet just around the corner it'll be an easy decision to make a booking at this fabulous 10/10 home.

While the room is less spacious than a hotel room (it is a bedroom in someone's home) the owners have managed to get all that is needed for a comfortable stay into the room without feeling squashed in. Breakfast was good with lots of fresh fruit. The room is quiet and very well located for our needs. Thank you

Room was very well laid out. Maybe a bit smaller than a motel room but plenty big enough for me and would even be ok for a couple. But it was heaps cleaner and the breakfast provided was better than any motel/hotel that I have stayed in and price a lot more cost effective

Nice and tidy, and rooms were a great size for our family of 5. This place has good facilities in the room. Staff were approachable. It served as a great hub for us while we were in Hastings for a family funeral. Not too far from town and motorway.
