Beautiful town in the heart of Central Otago with an alpine village feel. Lots of outdoor activities and close to other towns such as Cromwell and Wanaka without the overpriced accommodation of Wanaka and Queenstown. I always stay in Alexandra and use it as my base to access all of Central Otago, being a rep i find it good value for money.

Our aim was to ride some of the bike trails and sample some of the local wine.
Both of these activities are well catered for in Alexandra. Everyone is friendly and supportive of the local small businesses.
Alexandra is a bit light on eating out choices, but plenty of options in Clyde and other small towns.

Friendly service at restaurants, boutique markets and wineries. The river walk and picnic areas are gorgeous. Love the Mexican cantina in town. Terrific taco menus - it looks, tastes and feels exactly like being in Ensanada!!! Really enjoyed Desert Heart Winery - lovely hosts and picture-perfect setting. Their food and chardonnay are worth a visit, but MUST book. Enjoyed a film in the cinema in Clyde with their luxurious leather seats, only way to fly! Oh, all three days were superb weather - hottest in the country!! Did I mention the rail trail??

Ideally located in Central Otago with its handy location to Cromwell, and a short trip down to Roxburgh. Only an hour away from both Ranfurly and Wanaka and only slightly longer to Queenstown. A town with beautiful surroundings and handy amenities. Its a favourite for me.
Sue and Paul are very nice hosts. We chose the optional casual dinner, which was delicious, this allowed us to get to know our hosts and how they came to own and run Grey Ridge Vineyard. The wine is excellent and it was enjoyable to tour the vineyard with Paul. Sue prepared a delicious continental breakfast each morning with her homemade jams and jellies. We would certainly come back in a heartbeat and highly recommend anyone else to come to Grey Ridge Vineyard. The surrounding countryside is typical New Zealand … outstanding beauty.
The guest facility at Dunstan Road is in a separate building overlooking the paddocks towards the hills beyond Alexandra. The location is wonderfully quiet and restful, yet within easy reach of Alexandra for shopping and Clyde for the best restaurants in the area.
The rooms are beautifully appointed, well equipped and sparkling clean. Our hosts were cheerfully helpful and most pleasant to deal with. The breakfast hamper they provided was perfect.
This was an absolutely first class B&B experience: strongly recommended.
The room itself was clean - toilet, shower, clean sheets, floor. However the room was in dire need of repair. The wallpaper was peeling off in many places, the toilet curtain was completely ripped, both the curtains were ripped, the tv remote didn't work due to flat batteries and the grey shower curtain was dirty and the bottom of it was all mouldy. Honestly $2 shops sell shower curtains for under $5 - just replace it hotel management. Parking was on the town street, so no off street parking for safety.
John and Suzanne are incredibly nice, and we enjoyed our stay thanks to their exceptional hospitality.
We had a dinner with other guests, and they welcomed us altogether.
Not to mention wine was great, food from John’s vegetable yard, and prepared by Suzanne was the best cuisine we ever had in New Zealand.
The property has a wonderful view, and there are chairs and tables outside so that guests can spend their relaxing time there too.
We liked the fact that this is a small, family-run motel. It was quite peaceful and had easy walking access to the centre of town. The unit was spacious - bedroom, sitting area, kitchenette, bathroom. We appreciated the warm welcome, helpful advice and milk provided. Comfortable bed, with a choice of pillows. Glad we stayed two nights as it allowed us the experience Alexandra. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend.
The gentleman at reception was very helpful and kind. He set up the portable cot for our wee one. It was a full apartment with a great kitchen and bedrooms. Sky digital on the tele was nice. My son loved the trampoline and rackets and balls outside too. Alexandra was a nice town too. We were also very near a playground and some great cheap eats to treat ourselves 😊
The property was. dry secluded. It was a green oasis in the middle of a barren landscape and was just a short distance from Alexandra or Roxburgh. The suite was large and modern with a very comfortable bedroom and bath. Everything was quality finishes and the breakfast was perfect. Laundry facilities and great WI-FI. Great communication with owner.
I really liked the corner room with a great view of the mountains around Alexandra. The size of the room was better than anticipated. It met our needs as far as the kitchenette goes. It would have been even nicer with an oven. We would stay here again in a heart beat.
A sweet little modern cottage, well separate from the host's home.
Semi-rural but an easy 3 minute drive to historical/fashionable Clyde or 6 minutes to Alexandra.
The pre-prepared breakfast (home baked bread, jam and fruits) was delicious.
Great proximity to the Rail Trail & Lake Dunstan cycle trail. Added bonus of being able to hire an e-bike from the property. Situated between Clyde & Alexandra meant plenty of options for coffee, drinks and dinner. Peaceful setting!
This is the third time we have booked with Alexandra Motor Lodge as the location is central and the hosts are wonderful to deal with very friendly and hospitable.
Thank you we will be back again

Large comfy bed with hotel sheets (nice and cool) Unit has everything. Good size TV eith subtitle setting. Cosy lounge. Modern kitchen well stocked. I haven't slept this well in years. Good shower. Very relaxing stay
We liked the location which was handy to everything we wanted to do in Alexandra. We had a lovely trip out to mitchels cottage. We loved the morning greeting from the chooks. The shower was amazingly good.
A great place to stay in Alexandra, in the suburbs. Very quiet with all the facilities you would need. Plenty of room, with a nice deck to sit on for breakfast.
Beautiful chalet. Private and well equipped. Gorgeous grounds with gardens and fruit trees. Swimming pool was a bonus. Great location close to Alexandra Town.
The location was peaceful and relaxing and central to all the places we wanted to see, e.g. Clyde, Alexandra, Cromwell, Queenstown and the cycle trails.
