Kurokawa Onsen Oyado Noshiyu, hotel in Oguni

Located in the centre of Kurokawa Onsen, Oyado Noshiyu offers outdoor and indoor hot-spring baths, Japanese-style accommodations and a traditional teahouse.

It was out first experience in a ryokan and we couldn't be more pleased! The reception was smooth and came with complimentary tea and snacks, and the staff clearly explained the facilities and it's many onsens. I particularly enjoyed the outdoor onsen as well as the standing onsen. The location is great, just a short walk to explore the rest of Kurokawa Onsen, and the famous Patisserie Roku is just down the steps. Dinner was excellent and gently paced, and the grounds are really magical at night. The fluffy futon was laid out during dinner and we all had a good night's sleep. Breakfast was also delicious!

Ryokan Wakaba, hotel in Oguni

Boasting spacious indoor and outdoor hot spring baths surrounded by lush greenery, Ryokan Wakaba provides Japanese-style accommodation in the peaceful mountain area.

Loved it. Staff were great and most had some English. Had an an amazing room with a private bath. The public bath was also excellent. Food was incredible. I requested a vegetarian option as I'm not a big fish eater and was not disappointed, both dinner and breakfast were delicious. Struggled to eat everything as the food just kept coming.

Kurokawa Onsen Yama no Yado Shinmeikan, hotel in Oguni

Kurokawa Onsen Yama no Yado Shinmeikan features 5 hot-spring baths, including a 30-metre long cave bath.

-We were picked up from the bus stop punctually by the hotel staff upon our arrival. This is much appreciated as we would not have wanted to lug our luggage on steep slopes. We were also sent back to the bus stop on our departure. -The staff is very accommodating and explained to us where the baths are and its timings, and each dish during meal times, among other things. They were also attentive to our needs and communicated in both English and Japanese. Such good customer service. - The hotel has a very traditional look. It probably is a heritage conservation building. Everyone is taking photos of the building and the bridge itself. -The environment is quite peaceful and calming, with the sounds of the river and smell of the wood. -The room is traditional, and has a view of the river and the town. We stayed in the Fuji Room. -The cave baths are a truly unique experience. A bit creepy, but different. I especially loved the open air baths, both public and private. -Dinner has an open charcoal pit in the middle, grilling fish and barbequing wagyu beef. The food was great, and we enjoyed it! -The location is in the middle of town and is nearby commercial establishments.

Yamashinobu, hotel in Oguni

Surrounded by forest, tranquil Yamashinobu features public and private hot spring baths, an astronomical observatory and a piano.

The cottage/villa-style accommodation with adjoining private indoor & open air bath was incredible. The option for further private open-air baths just made it even better. Staff were super lovely, and the communal irori space with free sake & tea was a nice touch.
