The most convenient airport for both domestic and international travellers is Miyazaki Airport, due to its proximity and direct flights. It's approximately 6 kilometres from Miyazaki city centre.

For longer distances, the JR Kyushu trains are efficient. Taxis are also readily available. Cycling is popular, with bike rentals accessible citywide. Driving is an option, but remember Japan drives on the left.

Miyazaki is incredible. The people are friendly and kind.
Miyazaki is incredible. The people are friendly and kind. The scenery is breathtaking. The food is amazing. I recommend the local foods like chicken nanban and jidori, which you can get at most restaurants and izakayas. There's also a lot of citrus themed snacks and drinks, as hyuganatsu is a popular fruit. Miyazaki is also famous for beef and mango.
It's also a great place for people who like history and legends. Many of the shrines are very old. There are many "power spots" related to the Shinto legends and gods.
There are mountains, beaches, rivers, shrines, museums, cafes - all kinds of places to visit. I highly recommend visiting Miyazaki if you can.
Regarding transportation, it is one of those places where renting a car is ideal. It can be a little difficult to travel around without a car here. It can be done, but if you don't have a lot of time to spend on public transportation I would recommend getting a car. Additionally, Miyazaki is a popular place for motorcycles, especially in the countryside on the winding mountain roads.
Overall, Miyazaki is a great place to visit!

The hotel is just next to the train station which is super convenient. It is the best JR hotel that I've stayed so far. The room is big and spacious. It is pretty new looking bright and clean. Couldn't ask for anything more. Execellent!

I’ve been here four times.
I’ve been here four times. Great spot for relaxing and chilling. Beach is a hop skip and a jump away.
Weather is of a tropical warm nature.
If you’re travelling from Miyazaki airport by train, it’s a bit complicated as you have to change and wait for another train from Nichinan line. As for returning to the airport, it’s a bit confusing which train to board at the changeover platform.

Miyazaki is a wonderful city.
Miyazaki is a wonderful city. It's like a different side of Japan with such natural scenic views. Lush greenery, blue waters, flowers and friendly people await you. One thing is that the nice spots are difficult and or take long to get to, so driving is a good choice. This is not to deter those who don't drive as there are tons of places to visit, waterfalls, gorges and so on. One should consider some of the places not advertised. If you can spend many days then you can visit one place at a time to soak in more. Visitors can get a one-day bus pass which saves a great lot of money.
Some places to visit are Florante, Heiwadai Park, Amagajo Park, Takachiho Gorge (go very early if you want to do the boat ride) Sekinoo Falls, Nagata Gorge, Sun Messe Nichinan, Udo Jingu Shrine, Aoshima and Aya City with the suspension Bridge.
Places to eat include: Ogura Honten and Maruman which are close to and in Nishitachi respectively. Namban and Charcoal Chicken are two delicious dishes which can be enjoyed there. Don't leave without trying them!

We have limited days of holiday, we drive all day long from Fukuoka to Miyazaki and the main purpose is to visit Sun Messe Nichinan. I have never thought that such a popular tourism access area is closed on Wednesday. Public Access Tourism Area should have open all day long... We are very disappointed and we also found other tourist faced the same issues.

It's a lovely small city which is perfect for a 3-day trip.
It's a lovely small city which is perfect for a 3-day trip. There are trains and buses that allow you to travel around the city easily. I stayed there for 3 days and went to see the stunning views nearby, such as Takachiho and SunMesse Nichinan.
Miyazaki was the last stop on our trip so we could see Aoshima and surrounds and do some souvenir shopping. For Ghibli fans, the Ghibli shop in Aeon Mall Miyazaki has a bigger range than the museum at Mitaka. Yurakuan Miyazaki gave us a family room with a real authentic, Japanese, little bit retro feel. Really kind and thoughtful staff. A little far to walk to stations but taxis were easy to find and cost 1 - 2 thousand yen to get you to a station or the airport. If you're not a big hotel chain kind of family, would recommend 100%.
We’ve stayed there more than 30 times. It is our home away from home. Obviously we love it.
The view from almost any room is gorgeous. Walk out the door and you’re right on the beach.
The kids love it all year round.
This time we stayed in a Japanese style room with beds.
It was very clean and comfortable with a nice atmosphere.
The premium coffee maker in the room was a nice treat.
We’ll be headed back next week for more swimming, surfing, walls on the beach, breathtaking views and good food.
The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel offers complimentary drinks and snacks at the lobby. Though small, the onsen is still quite good. Location wise, it's a bit further away from the main train station. The parking is just next to the hotel. Parking fee is JPY950 and it allows you to go in and out unlimited.
it is one of the best stay I have in Japan! the house is literally next to river, so quiet and clean, and owner has a really good taste of interior design!
bus close by and convient store is walking distance. in the morning you can hear bird singing and the hill in fog :) so beautiful so relaxing
Family room with Twin Bed was huge compare Hakata Fukuoka, normal breakfast. Check in was fast, surrounding with nice and delicious restaurant. Pillow and mattress was comfort.
Hotel was 2 star rate at Google Map but personally think at least 3-3.5 stars. All quite new.
Great location, parking was nearby, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. It was also really quiet, even though a busy street was nearby. The hotel provided comfortable yukata for guests to use, which made me very happy.
Large room, clean and new hotel, free and delicious breakfast with various options.
Be aware that the hotel is in a shopping area. There are many shops and restaurants around, and the train station is not far and it's easy to reach on foot.
It’s not a hotel. It’s a guest house so be prepared. It’s nice and cosy with a very nice view of the sea from the room. Very interesting experience for me this trip (while sitting in the stairs) 😅
Its clean and inexpensive. Most amenities were there. Outdoor showers, close to the beach, supermarket and convenience store etc
Basis Japanese very clean accomodations.
Laundry facilities on site
Pretty much everything was great and convenient. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful too. Amazing onsen experience that accommodated me despite my tattoos which is rare here in Japan.
Onsen on top floor was one of the best we've experienced in a hotel. Free ice cream in the afternoon was a treat too. Breakfast was very good - Western and Japanese options.
Property was great. One of the best beds I have slept in yet while being in Japan. It was really close to the station and the stores. Our room looked just like the photos.
