You instantly feel welcome at this hotel due to the very friendly staff. There is a magnificent garden in several levels overlooking the sea, and the staff performs a high level of service. We had the pleasure to stay in the room named Sophia, well decorated and with a small private terrace towards the sea with sun all day. There is parking on the premises for only 20 € a night. We highly recommend this charming, family driven hotel and their restaurant.
Expect simple, family-run accommodation, delicious homemade cuisine and stunning views of the sea at Hotel Open Gate. The beach is just a 5-minute walk away.

If you want to visit Positano but not have to deal with all the crowds stay in Praiano and catch the bus to Positano for 1.80euro. It is the next town and so charming but quiet
Better still stay at hotel holiday and the bus stop is right at your door

You've found it!..The most wonderful little boutique hotel! Family owned and operated since 1971. The owner and staff are all so very lovely, kind, hospitable and attentive. We absolutely loved our stay. The room had a gorgeous view of the sea from our cozy balcony. The bed was comfortable and the room a nice size. I loved the historical charm and all the Italian tile. Breakfast was served daily and was incredible. Hotel provides free shuttle service to the beach and into town for shopping. So very accommodating. They also provided free parking (which is huge).
During our stay we held a very intimate wedding ceremony for our friends. The staff was so helpful in planning and providing assistance. They ordered the brides flowers. The allowed us private use of the upper terrace before it opened to the public. They prepared a perfect spread of fruit and cheese along with Prosecco for after celebrations. I cannot say enough about how wonderful everyone and everything was during our stay.
The neighborhood is quiet. Scenic and just beautiful. Several very nice restaurants walking distance. Hotel has its own very lovely restaurant I highly recommend. They also have a spa and though I did not have time for any services we did meet the staff and they were awesome. I am certain spa services would be amazing.
I highly recommend you have the staff arrange a private boat ride for you. We booked 4 hours for 6 people 900 Euro. Absolutely worth every penny.
We will never forget our stay here. It is a 10 out of 10 in every way.

Priano is very small, so it is less expensive than the other cities close by. The church and the local neighborhood around were enjoyable. The fine restaurants were very expensive, and the moderate priced restaurants were hit and miss.

We love Priania we have been there several times and it never disappoints. It’s a small town but everything you need is there the bus service to Positano and Amalfi is very handy. We were disappointed that the ferries weren’t operating yet so we didn’t get to Capri but all the more reason to come back again.

There's not a lot to do in Praiano itself but it's a great place to stay for day trips to Positano and Amalfi with frequent buses stopping in the village. It was good to be away from the crowds in the evenings and whilst small the choice and standard of restaurants was good

Buses to and from neighbouring Amalfi and positano are cheap but don't necessarily arrive on time !! Tickets must be purchased in advance at little shops. The locals are very friendly and happy to point you in the right direction and if you need help with the steep stairs take the little local
Bus for one euro that runs exactly in time and to listen to the locals is a joy. Such a community feel and a great feel good boost !!

The Sentieri degli Dei was my favorite.
The Sentieri degli Dei was my favorite. We walked from Praiano to Positano and had lunch in Nochelle. The walk up the to the church and the views were wonderful. The little town on the hillside was clean and bright and wonderful for anyone who does not mind walking up and down many steps. I would recommend that future travellers not spend much time in either Positano or Amalfi. Both were crowded and very touristy.

A great value to stay as "home base".
A great value to stay as "home base". We did day trips to Positano and Amalfi each day via water taxi. The bus would have been much more economical but we wanted to see each town from the water and the taxis provided a mini tour of the coast with each trip. We did want to take the city bus to the beach on a Sunday AM, but after waiting about 20 minutes it passed our stop by b/c it was packed full. We decided to do the 30 minute walk to Il Gavitella beach and discovered some nice small shops and the San Gennaro church.
The town itself has great restaurant options including Il Pirata, Franchino and La Moressa.
First of all, location! Beachfront, great restaurant, and hotel room was very new and comfortable. Praiano was definitely a highlight on our trip to Italy. Not only is the restaurant at the hotel amazing, but there were 5 other restaurants within walking distance. We enjoyed a water taxi to Positano for a day trip (which was great- but we were thrilled we made the decision to stay in Praiano over Positano). Breakfast was great, staff were so friendly, and the view was simply the best. We will be back for sure, hopefully sooner than later!
We stayed here for our honeymoon for 5 nights - It was truly a dream to stay here and we cannot wait to come back. We loved the complimentary breakfast every morning, and the entire design of the hotel with cliffside steps, beautiful terraces of 360 ocean views of Praiano, a cave walk to the beach club, and unbelievable food. Grand Hotel Tritone had the most incredible staff and service - we got to know Luigi, Anna Lisa, Alessandro and Paulo very well by the end of our stay and they enhanced our overall experience of Italy!
Was a great location, less busy than Amalfi or Positano, but close to both. The apartment was overlooking the coast road and the sea.
We dined most evenings on the front patio overlooking the sea and moon, was beautiful.
There were also two little family owned mini markets within 2 minutes walk from our door and a paid parking garage. Right up the hill in Praiano there was a larger shopping market along with other facilities, restaurants, hotels, coffee shops and even a gym.
I traveled to Praiano with my wife. We were really surprised, and we haven't seen such a great hotel. The manager and his workers have perfect personalities. I wish I could give more than a 10 out of 10 score. The cleanliness of the room, the quality, and the quantity of the breakfast are perfect. The view from the hotel is spectacular. The view isn't just of the ocean but also of the Positano village! I really miss the hotel and its kind staff. I hope to see them again.
location was great...access to the hotel was great!! staff was awesome and the food delicious...our room was very comfortable and we loved the patio view of the water and the gardens outside our balcony..we enjoyed the 400 steps down to the water...crazy type of "beach" but when in Praiano...do as they do...great recommendation for the little restaurant across the street Stragin? love the food and the 2-person staff was like family by the end of our stay...
Immaculately clean, beautiful hotel, very kind staff, and incredibly helpful. More than what you need and the location was great for us. Local transportation or buses and taxes are readily available (buses much cheaper and take you all the way to Positano) and walking distance to local piazza, church, mini market, and restaurants. If you want to get to the Praiano center, it’s about a 20-25 min walk down/uphill but with a scooter or car, it’s like 5-10.
Our room was so so cute and we had our own private garden with a gorgeous view of the Amalfi coast!! It was so comfortable and we loved it. Michele was so nice, and went overboard to make sure everything was to our liking. He was very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas and was always there to answer all our questions. The breakfast was very nice, and Michele made the best cappuccino I had during our entire stay in Italy!!
The location is absolutely perfect, Praiano is very close to Positano and is a great place to stay if you're looking for a more relaxing, less hectic location. The bus stop to get to Positano was a few steps from the hotel which was great. iL Pirata was also a close walk and was an incredible restaurant nearby. The staff, specifically Filippo and Elvio, were incredible! We loved our stay and would definitely come back.
The couple who seem to be the owner of the hotel are very nice and helpful. I can feel they tried to help as much as they could but the facilities in the rooms are very limited. The view from our balcony is very lovely as it overlooks the sea. It is quite convenient to get to Positano on a taxi and the parking next to the hotel is quite big (compared to other places in Italy). The dinners at the hotel are quite nice
Perfect location for our vacation. Hotel is conveniently located just outside a SITA bus stop allowing for easy transit to Positano and Amalfi. Additionally, the set of stairs leading to Marina di Praia beach are very close. We were able to walk from the property to the beach as well as many excellent restaurants in Praiano. The view from our room and from the terrace where breakfast was served was stunning.
We really liked the location of the hotel, a nice quiet spot away from the business of Positano. The views were incredible and we thought the best of the coast. We loved the beach club and the atmosphere down by the sea, but wish it was open later. We also enjoyed the restaurant down by the beach club. The concierge were very helpful booking trips before our arrival and restaurants during our stay.
Hotel Margherita was absolutely lovely! the staff was top notch, always available to help. The room itself couldn’t have been nicer, with a wonderful view of the ocean. We loved being in quiet Priano as opposed to the hustle and bustle of Positano, but it was very easy to get to and from town. We loved the refillable water bottles and free breakfast.
Loved our stay here- we did not want to leave.
The staff were amazing and could not do enough for us from breakfast each morning to a shuttle in the evening. The room was so clean and comfortable.
The pool area was very relaxing.
Would highly recommend hotel Margherita to everyone.
The perfect location, Praiano is simply stunning.
Beautiful, well maintained property. The rooms were clean and well kept. The views were sensational and the breakfast was the best we have had out of all our stays in Italy. The staff were wonderful and so accommodating and helpful. We highly recommend staying here on our visit to the Amalfi coast. Only regret is not staying longer!
The main area of the hotel is very nice with beautiful views, lots of spots to sit/sun bake/ private entrance to the water. The breakfast was excellent with so many options, one of the better breakfast spreads we have had in Italy. The view from our bathroom in room (217) was amazing.
The staff was amazing and so helpful with anything we needed. The view was perfect. The location was nice, Praiano is a small, quaint, cute town. The bus stop was right outside the hotel so made exploring different towns easy. Breakfast was delicious every morning.
I absolutely loved everything about this hotel :) my first time in Italy and I chose to stay here because of the calmness and still would be able to enjoy Positano!! form
beginning to end Luigi and his family were behind excellent for us !!
The view and the service is the only thing you'll be paying for at Tramonto D'Oro. View is breathtaking, only when looking to the right. The left has a church (more on that later). The service is incredible, one of the best I had in Italy.
The location is perfect - away from the madness of Positano but close enough to visit. The breakfast was a highlight - coffee was the best we had in Italy!
