Everything, the staff, food, salubrious buildings and interiors - just fabulous.
Set within 43 acres of forest at the foot of the mountains, this stunning castle features huge rooms with 32-inch flat-screen TVs. The 5-star hotel offers a luxurious spa within its beautiful gardens....

The room was large and comfortable. The dining service was excellent and the food tasted delicious. Breakfast had an astounding number of choices. The castle grounds were gorgeous. Information was readily available on the facilities and the nearby area. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful.

Located above a very fun pub that serves delicious food and has live entertainment. The staff were all incredibly friendly and the locals were great, too! There was a Gaelic Football game on the TV when we arrived (Derry vs Donegal), so we got to experience the excitement of a Donegal win with the crowd - some of whom were helpful in explaining the game to us. The accommodations blew us away! The rooms have all recently been remodeled and are modern and beautiful! We stayed in a large guest room with 4 beds, a small living area and kitchenette and private bath. We were so impressed with this place and would highly recommend! We visited a couple of other pubs that evening in the town - which were also fun - and enjoyed a breathtaking sunset on the bay behind the Inn where there is a small park, walking path and sports field.

We had a excellent stay. The Mick & Geraldine were very accommodating. The room was very comfortable and breakfast exceeded expectations. We got in a little late and went to eat first. When we arrived Mick showed us in and to our room.
We didn't realize their place was a only few minutes walk to town and the castle. The next morning Mick suggested we stay parked and walk down to town which was very helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Donegal is a beautiful area, rugged and less crowded in April. Would highly recommend this area, particularly to people who like walking/hiking opportunities. Slieve League is a must and Glenveagh castle and gardens, which are open, are charming. Other attractions in the area are worth a visit.

North west Donegal has spectacular beaches without any doubt. There are far too many houses built on land that has sea views, this has to be ignored by any visitors.
The Fanad peninsula was the best place, not as developed.

Donegal is one of the loveliest parts of Ireland and always worth a visit, from the wild countryside to Errigal mountain and the rugged coastline. The people are very friendly and welcoming. This was a short visit, but I have been before and stayed longer.

O' Donnell castle or Donegal castle was the highlight of our stay, plus a visit to Slieve League, as it was raining so much we just travelled around in the care, taking in the views as we could. Donegal is a great County to visit but you need the sunshine to see it at its best. If you visit Ireland, Donegal is a must place to go. Tara Hotel in Killybegs is the place to have your meals, great food great staff.
This is an exceptionally appointed hotel and located in silvan surroundings by Lough Eske a few miles outside the town of Donegal. The staff were most welcoming from the moment we walked through the door and could not have been more friendly and this includes all staff who bade us a 'good morning' whenever they passed inside or outside the hotel. The whole dining experience whether in the main restaurant or bar area was a delight. Servicing of our room was undertaken daily and most thoroughly.
The location is stunning with views over Lough Eske and its amazing surroundings. We were there for a wedding at Lough Eske Castle and the house was absolutely perfect, just a five minute drive from the hotel. The host, Paul, had a wood-burning stove lit on our arrival and had stocked the fridge with essentials like milk and butter. The house is beautiful, perfectly clean and had everything we needed. I couldn't recommend it highly enough for any sort of holiday near Donegal town.
What a little gem! It's right in the middle of Donegal Town, a few yards from the bus pick up and drop off points. Very clean room, comfortable beds and lovely shower. Fridge came in very handy to keep lunch in (there's a spa shop around the corner that has a deli counter). There is some traffic noise, mainly in the day time, which is to be expected, being right on the Diamond, but it didn't bother us. Staff and locals so friendly as you would expect, will definitely be back.
This hotel was nicely located in the center of town within walking distance to many pubs with live music. Blazers restaurant was a big hit with an awesome waiter. I had a really good steak for dinner.
A bonus is right when we were about to hit the road to the next destination the cleaning staff found our credit card we thought we lost earlier in our trip. They called us right away and we were able to unlock it and keep using it. Thanks for the wonderful stay!
Beautiful room, comfortable bed and excellent breakfast. Also owners Michael and Geraldine were extraordinarily helpful when we got a flat tire and they were able to find someone to replace it on the holiday weekend so that we could continue our travels. We felt so fortunate to have staying with them and would recommend their place to anyone visiting Donegal Town. They also got us reservations for a great restaurant.
We liked how close it is to Donegal town - 10 min walk, 4 min drive. Its surrounded by pasture, quiet and beautiful. The building is older but well up dated. The breakfasts are delicious. Theresa and Sofia take such good care of you! Theresa is helpful with suggestions, answers to questions and available when needed.
The hotel is so central, easy access to fabulous bars and restaurants. The staff were very caring, kind, polite. This made our first visit to Donegal so special, would highly recommend the Central and look forward to staying there on our next visit to Ireland
I love staying on the Irish countryside. This location was perfect for that but was also so close to Donegal Town, Killybegs and Ardara. Best of both worlds. The house was cozy and clean and had everything we needed. We would definitely stay here again!
The room was spacious and had lovely linens. Breakfast was delicious with full Irish plus fruit, yogurt, and breads. It had the best hairdryer I used in Ireland. It was located about 5 minutes from Donegal Town and very easy to get to town.
Wonderful warm welcome from all the staff. The hotel is in the perfect location in the heart of Donegal town with everything only a short walk away. Good variety of shops and no end of lovely restaurants and great pubs. I'll be back...
Highly recommend rather than staying in an overpriced hotel. The room was by far more superior than local hotels. I would chose to stay here again when we next visit Donegal town.
Nice hotel with a decent sized bedroom. The bathroom was small but useable. The location was just minutes from the center of town. The staff were very friendly and helpful!
Lovely big room and ensuite, 2 minute walk to town, comfy bed and lovely continental breakfast. Donegal was one of our favourite places on our quick tour of Ireland
The property was clean and welcoming, and perfectly located for a trip to Donegal town and other points in northwest Ireland. I would definitely stay here again.
