Staff was absolutely amazing, they were caring, attencious and sincere. The hotel itself is a gem, its an older hotel but delivers a lot for its two stars. A lot of croatian families were there, atmosphere was very nice and cool. It is not a five star hotel or pretends to be it, but serves good food and lodgind for a fair price in a very nice location. So I have to reccomend it!

Maria, the owner, is such a a kind person. I only stayed one night but I felt like home. Definitely I will recommend this place to stay en Stari Grad.

Stari grad is a beautiful place and the people are very friendly.Lots of very nice bars and restaurants to choose from and lots of little streets to explore.,Public transport is cheap so its easy to check out other places not too far away.We found Taxis to be expensive so try and negotiate a price before you get in.A very relaxing, laid back place, just right for a chilled out holiday.

We could not of enjoyed Stari Grad more if we tried.
We could not of enjoyed Stari Grad more if we tried. The food was delicious, the people were incredibly friendly, and the architecture was beautiful.
If I can recommend anything, it is to visit Blue Doors. The food was amazing and all the Owners family recipes, the wine we selected (which I believe was the house white) was made next door to the restaurant. All the staff were lovely and we chose this location for our final meal of our holiday.

A peaceful and beautiful port, quieter then Hvar, but still with excellent restaurants, nice landmarks and a lovely feel to it.
Melting Spot for coffee.
You can't get any day boats to the smaller islands from Start Grad- you (unless you pay to do a private excursion) so you have to travel back to Hvar to do this.

I really love this place!
I really love this place! I've been there three times (first time 12 years ago). But I have to admit that prices in restaurants have gone mad this year. I understand inflation and everything, but I've been to Rome before visiting Stari Grad and food in Roman restaurants was 20-40 percent cheaper! Stari Grad (and Hvar island as a whole) is gorgeous! But it's not Rome! And I'm pretty sure it's not only my opinion because I was there a year ago at the same time (mid June), and this year restaurants were half-empty and I saw a lot of people walking away after looking at the prices on the menu.

It's very quiet and small.
It's very quiet and small. A good breakaway from the many tourists! However transport is a challenge. Only taxis available and a bus. Taxis charge €50 to get to Hvar town where all the boat tours etc depart from. So you either need your own car or you need to catch the bus. In June the bus only ran at certain times which limited transport options from Hvar back to Stari Grad to exorbitant taxi prices! Information is not shared easily. One has to hunt everywhere for information. I do not believe I will be returning to Hvar. The boat tours are also over-priced for what you get.
Hosts were very good communicating about recommendations for transfers and arrival times. Their daughter was with them on our arrival to explain in English how everything works. Rooms are comfy, spacious with en suites with all you could need. Pool is great with lots of inflatables to keep the kids entertained. Nice bottle of wine and chocolates from the hosts on arrival, and a small gift on departure. Easy walk into Stari Grad with lots of nice restaurants, and 5 euros by bus per person into Hvar on the bus with the stop across the road.
How can you not fall in love with this place? Really beautiful room with astonishing view! Very spacious, spotless clean, all made with the best materials. Great staff who wants to make your stay unforgetable.
Nice breakfast on the terrace where you can watch all the boats come and go.
Beside that all, Stari grad is - on our opinion - the best place to stay on Hvar. A really charming town worthwhile visiting! When you do, just stay at B&B Heritage Villa Apolon!
Merlo House is what countryside Dalmatian dreams are made of. Comfortable, clean & charming; we hope to return to lovely, little Dol one day. It is close to everything. Stari Grad is 10 minutes away & Hvar Town no more than 30 minutes away. Rato took the time to answer all of our questions & recommend the best places on the island to visit. Dinner at Konoba Kokot & an evening at Hora on the Stari Grad plains are both a must-do!!!!
Easy booking, excellent cooperation with Morena who explained us everything and gave us instructions about the best way of spending the little time we had on Island of Hvar. Great restaurants and bars nearby as the appartment is at the very centre of Stari Grad, Hvar. Everything was clean and comfortable. Next time we come to Hvar, we will surely try to stay at Morena's place and then it will be for more days.
Location was OK, you are close to the center of Stari grad, you can be in just few minutes.
Room was very clean.
We came by car and was instructed how to buy weekly parking ticket. With it you can park anywhere around a hotel in regular public parking. We were using car everyday, but we never had a problem to find a parking spot regardless of the time of the day we were returning back.
The host spoke very good English and was super nice. He went to tell the neighbours to keep it down at night when we complained about the noise in the halls. The apartment was clean and comfortable. There is a parking lot available for guests. Very nice balcony with a great view of Stari Grad and Hvar mountains. The grocery store, bakery and farmers market within walking distance.
Staff was absolutely amazing, they were caring, attencious and sincere. The hotel itself is a gem, its an older hotel but delivers a lot for its two stars. The hospitality received at at arrival was exceptional . You feel immediately at home . The land lord is very friendly , and is willing to give you all the advice and tips you need for an enjoyable stay o n Hvar island . The apartment is exceptionally clean and comfortable, it feels like a 4-star hotel . Th location is excellent , very close to the beach and to the center.
Really nice and super comfortable apartment just a short walk to the city center–the bed was cozy and the balcony was a nice bonus. A/C worked great, which was necessary in this July heat! I expected it to be more of a hotel room but it was much more than that–it had a coffee maker, plates, cups, a desk/table, and more! There's even a city map and ferry schedule.
Perfectly located. Staff were friendly, helpful and very informative. Lovely walk from the hotel into Stari Grad town. Only 15 minutes and a really lovely stroll. Hotel located 2 minute walk from ferry terminal. Could not recommend this place more. I was sad to leave and will be returning. Thank you so much for a wonderful and unforgettable stay.
Location of the hotel was great, in a quiet area out of Stari grad hussle and bustle yet only 15-20 min walk by the sea. Staff is very friendly and helpful at the hotel though not local. Great facilities at the hotel. Loved Flexi program they had for food and drinks.
Spectacular location right on the Stari Grad harbor with gorgeous view out the big windows. Spotlessly clean and comfortable, with extra touches like a drying rack for beach towels and swimsuits and a suitcase rack. Kind staff and delicious breakfast.
Absolutely fabulous concept. Great design, wonderful staff, delicious food, and the pool area is pure bliss. Loved the sea side too and the nearby town is beautiful. The family room was spacious with great views. Undoubtedly the best hotel in Croatia.
The location was incredible! The house was tastefully decorated and had everything we could need. You can immerse yourself in the Croatian culture by stepping out the front door. Our family of 4 had plenty of room and a wonderful stay. Thank you!
the apartment is located in the very center of Starigrad, it is very nice, suggestive and comfortable and also close to wonderful beaches.
the host is always helpful and she gave us the best tips about places to go on the island!
Wonderful apartment in a fantastic location. Beautiful old building, nicely updated. Walking distance from restaurants and beaches. Excellent, helpful, communicative hosts. We had a great time and didn’t want to leave!
