Maria and Giorgos are the perfect hosts. This pension has everything you need for a comfortable stay on a budget. The place was very clean and in such a great location. The food in their restaurant is incredible too!

Beautiful hotel with a great restaurant below. Friendly staff, delicious food, scenic views, and a five minute walk to the beach.
Tray the chocolate and vanilla milk shake.
Back-dropped by breathtaking Cretan mountains, the family-run Faragi enjoys a unique location, at the peaceful seaside village of Agia Roumeli, at the end of the famous Samaria Gorge.

Agia Roumeli is a small village, which mainly accommodates those who visit the Samaria Gorge. Access is either by foot from the gorge or by boat from other parts of Sfakia region.
It is definitely recommended to stay in Agia Roumeli after visiting the Gorge, as it is a quite demanding hike and some time to rest and relax is much needed.
Lots of nice restaurants and cafes to choose from. People are warm and welcoming, and the Agia Roumeli beach is also lovely.

In May, after ferries leave, a very sleepy, romantic place to be in. Next day, while travellers from Samaria arrive, a bit crowdy village :-) The atmosphere is very nice, great to experience, a great spot to stay after your Samaria walk and maybe even a bit longer!

Agia Roumeli offers activities for both sea and mountain lovers, and good, Cretan food based on local products. It should thus be considered as a destination on its own and not just a transfer area after exiting the Samaria Gorge.

Wonderful town, away from the big crowds.
Wonderful town, away from the big crowds. Crystal clear blue waters with great swimming and snorkelling possibilities. 2-3 decent restaurants, which in combination with having a small supermarket and our own kitchen was ideal for up to a week.
The town is crowded only for a few hours per day when hikers come down from the gorge. Me and my partner immediately felt at home and decided to stay one more night than planned. A lovely little gem that I’d love to visit again.

The beach has black sand, so is too hot to sit on or walk on, and the water is not always clean, depending on the wind direction. Agia Roumeli serves more as an exit or entrance point to Samaria Gorge, which means that most tourists are "one-time" visitors. So related services are overpriced and of poor quality.
Which is a pity, because it is a very nice village, that could be worth staying a couple more days.

Samaria Gorge is outstanding as usual, even in late October.
Samaria Gorge is outstanding as usual, even in late October.
It is worthwhile to hike from Agia Roumeli to Agios Pavlos and back.
The most beautiful path in Chania, in Crete, in Greece, in Europe, in the world. Friendly people everywhere and amazing sea after the gorge
I didnt like I paid for mini bus from Samaria exit to the Agia Roumeli town and there was no receipt. If this business is public, they should include the cost to the Samaria ticket, if is private they should give receipt. People should not feed Kri Kri wild goats.
Possibly the only truly family tavern in Agia Roumeli. The best part - they got rooms!
I enjoyed a delicious meal, and a sensory experience that I dreamed of for years. The silence and calmness of the evening complemented the aromas of the fresh dishes, served near the beach, at one of their few tables, the view from the room terrace. The attention and discretion of the restaurant owner, Mr. Nectarios, who offered me as a gift two small bottles - one with olive oil and one with brandy. Thank you very much!
We loved staying at Faragi! The room was very clean and the beds are comfy. The owners are wonderful people and they spoiled our daughter and us with their local produce and hospitality. I recommend trying the Dakos and their fish which is fresh. We were there for 4 nights and hope to return soon!
If you are coming from Samaria gorge, this is the place to stay for the night and enjoy a quiet evening after the boats have left. Nectariu and Ioana (she is Romanian) will take good care of you!
We visited in mid October and the hotel was quiet, very comfortable and the staff were attentive and helpful. We paid extra for a room overlooking the sea and it came with a small balcony which was well worthwhile.
Breakfast was amazing. It was served in a lovely beach side restaurant and included yogurt & fruit, a cooked breakfast, pastries, fresh orange juice and coffee.
This hotel was a highlight of our holiday. Thank you!
The bed is very comfortable, I’ve never seen such a clean hotel, and the staff is very accommodating. Everything was so relaxed, and the only bad thing I have to say is why no one told me that I should come for longer ;) We also had dinner and breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant and it was very fresh and delicious, there’s really no reason to go anywhere else. Also, the view from the rooms is simply priceless!
This hotel is a bit further out than the other properties. That means it’s much quieter and you have a beautiful view of the cliffs and the sea, and at night, the stars are crystal clear. The actual room furnishings are mostly the basics, but the owners’ kindness makes up for it. As a solo female traveler, I really felt safe and enjoyed my stay.
Joseph as a host was amazing. Friendly, gave us really good advice for our next trip.
The view from the room was simply the best. Right at the beach, with a view of a nearby port. It was spacious with a big balcony with a place to hang your wet clothes from the beach. And there are two nearby!
It was a steak for this price. Love it!
It was a wonderful, clean and comfortable place to enjoy silence and peace of Agia Roumeli.
I also liked food at Gigilos restaurant, with beautiful sea view from its terrace.
Thanks Paraskevi and her family for great job!
No doubts, I will come there again.
Hopefully soon.
The private patio overlooking the sea was amazing. There are comfortable chairs and two beach loungers with a large umbrella to relax under. The property owner, Nikos, is incredibly friendly and really makes your stay even better. The attached taverna is great too!
Extremely friendly owner and staff. Lovely terrace, with great food. So peaceful and beautiful in the evenings, after the boat goes. In mid-July, the river was running, cool and green, at the foot of the Samaria Gorge -- perfect for evening paddles.
The location is just around the corner from the port. Close to both a sandy and a pebble beach. The family operating the hotel and the restaurant were incredibly accommodating and welcoming. They speak great English among otherlanguages.
The location was great, very close to the exit of the Samaria Gorge. The highlight was the food offered. I've recommended it already to friends even if they're not staying there. Very friendly people.
