Our room was spacious and very comfortable, great walk in shower in large bathroom. Our host was very friendly and accommodating and the food was great.

The environs were better than the centre although the churches and Museum are worth a visit. Traffic heavy in places and most streets not pedestrianised. I would recommend 'Augustus' for a special meal (Michelin starred). Most other restaurants very unspectacular. Brasserie meal in the 'Castle Hotel' disappointing.
My favourite places are the Quantocks, The West Somerset Railway and Hestercombe Gardens.

Taxi overcharged me on the motorway route after being told it was £25 I got charged £34. He would only take one route that I thought was cheaper. I tried calling him the next day due to no public bus services available. No response. Claimed he arrived fromRomania in 2003. An English person from Taunton Taxis helped me out the next day with an awesomely cheaper rate, and showed me how to get to the basic bus route. Brilliant service from Taunton Taxis. Would highly recommend them but you have to phone as they are not allowed to sit in aTaxi rank apparently, where the expensive guy was....??
Some people here do not know where things are. Bus services do not run on Sundays if you are a traveller, tourist, worker etc.
Prior experience here I was left to sleep in the street, no offer to provide a place to sleep, had a food poisoned experience by local street van vendor, not seen here on revisit where public toilets were intentionally closed and Male urinals open. I am a woman!
Bag of personal belongings stolen from the local library, taken into custody via police where items were returned after it being opened. This was bag with clothes, research books and personal property linking to identity and legal documents were accessed. That was with CCTV.

We came for the County Classics Car Museum which has recently opened. Lots of shiny cars and motorbikes, friendly staff. We also went for a couple of walks close by - one at Ilminster and one at Castle Naroche. We stayed at the Corner Hotel. The meal in their restaurnat (pre-book) was excellent.

Taunton is a nice unusual town with lots of different shops. It is near to the River Tonne and has a museum( although I didn't get a chance to visit on this occasion) It is very close to the cricket ground and has 2 beautiful churches. Nearby there is a nice park called Vivary Park. There are two Park and Rides called Silk Mills and Gateway and the bus runs between the two. It only costs £2 return and you park in the Park and Ride car park for free. The cattle market is no longer held in the town, though.

We went for a live band rock n roll event in the Lawns club it was brilliant they have live music events often.
Lovely walk in the park it has a lovely children's play area with Cafe and outdoor climbing ropes / crazy golf lots to do .
Our room was very clean with everything we needed. Unfortunately the owner couldn't greet us due to Covid restrictions and being vulnerable but dropped me text explaining everything and apologising for the situation. Location was great, literally a 10 minute walk into Taunton and a Tesco virtually opposite if you needed late night snacks. Would highly recommend.
We had a lovely overnight stay at the property just outside Taunton. The owners are considerate in all aspects. From plates and cutlery to allow you to eat a takeaway in your room to milk in the fridge for tea and coffee.
The breakfast was superb - I had a light one as I had overindulged for the rest of the holiday but what I had was fresh and excelent.
Excellent breakfast - certainly didn't need any lunches during my stay.
I was at Taunton for the cricket - the ground is a very pleasant 30 minute walk from the hotel.
Nice lounge for relaxing (and a patio area).
I often don't sleep too well when away but on my first night (which was very warm) I slept for 7 hours! Amazing!
Dinner bed and breakfast on our way to Cornwall. Relieved that are a dog friendly hotel as it was below zero centigrade last night and the dogs will have had to stay in the car. The chef is excellent and provides interesting food.
We’ll run, local pub and hotel. Excellent accommodation and food, and at a very good price. A nice welcome from the staff, and they accommodated our lack of booking for dinner very quickly. They made our stay in Taunton.
Ideal location for Taunton town centre. Lovely old building. Warm and tidy. Nice lady running the palce. Good blackout curtains made our room nice and dark for a good long sleep ZZZZZZzzzz
very central and close to Taunton College where next day event we were attending. clean room. everything good. maybe more variety for breakfast such as croissants. friendly staff
recently refurbished hotel with good sized and well equipped rooms.
convenient location for railway station, town centre and cricket ground
very friendly and helpful staff
We like where the hotel is because you can get in to Taunton and also we have two small dogs and there is quite a big park nearby to walk them friendly Bath and fair menu
It was very helpful to us that we were able to bring our dog. Lovely hotel and a good breakfast. Nice bar. Always stay here when we travel to Taunton, never disappointed
For me this hotel was good value, it was quiet from my room, clean as i can remember and staff friendly, location was good for me to. Bonus was the kitchen room.
Needed to stay in Taunton, so it was in the right place. It was clean and the staff were very friendly.
Breakfast was lovely - cooked to order and very tasty.
