Great place to stay. Beautiful bedroom and shower room which were spotlessly clean. The lady that owns this cottage was a lovely host and very welcoming. She also gave me a tasty continental breakfast. She told me about all the things you can do nearby. I would definitely like to return for a longer stay at a later date to do these, like picnic by the bridge over the river which is about 150m away or walk on the moors. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Will def recommend this to my friends and family.

We booked the accommodation for ourselves and our daughter...
We booked the accommodation for ourselves and our daughter and son in law. As soon as we arrived the place and area looked wonderful. The accommodation is of a high standard with everything you need and it’s central to areas you would like to visit ie watersmeet, Lynmouth , Minehead. We were not that far away from Exmoor which was lovely to drive through and stop to take photos, seeing the wildlife was the added bonus. Where the accommodation was the Exmoor Inn offered food and drink, plus dogs are welcome. We were there the first night and had a lovely meal, the staff were very attentive and professional. We will definitely be back

Everything was way more than we expected.
Everything was way more than we expected. The staff were amazing - all of them not just a few. The owner Ed as really hands on and nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was very much home from home with bells on. We felt incredibly comfortable and welcome all the time whilst still being looked after. The hotel is very comfortable and they have somehow managed to create a very friendly homely environment whilst remaining professional and attentive. Very dog friendly which is great. Dogs not restricted at all but you wouldn’t know they are there - no sign of them or smells - immaculate. Of course there are always comments you can make about a hotel, especially when you have been there for 5 days. We can’t please all the people all the time so they say. These guys have got all the right things in the right place. I have been in the holiday let industry for a number of years and I am very hard to please but this hotel ticked every box. On top of this, if you are looking for an escape with amazing walks then look no further. We ate at the hotel every night. The food was amazing so no need to go else where. Gorgeous villages and trails all around but a car is a must if you plan to go out and about. Can’t wait to go back.

An accurate opinion of the other restaurants in the area...
An accurate opinion of the other restaurants in the area would help as some other eating houses were disappointing!

Simonsbath is in a valley with the National Park around it.
Simonsbath is in a valley with the National Park around it. Difficult to see the wonderful night sky! The Exmoor Forest Inn was a very comfortable place to stay but if you want choice of restaurants it is not the place to go! Saying that the meals at the Inn were excellent. There are lovely walks around the area.
Room was lovely, stairs were very steep but not a problem for my wife and I. but check when you book if stairs are a problem for you
Breakfast was first class. The evening menu Was a little disappointing we did expect to eat here every evening during our visit because it is quite a remote Location
ate there twice, but found other places for rest of our stay. But couldn’t have alcohol with our dinner
Because of driving back to the hotel. probably my only complaint about a really friendly, clean, welcoming
Place
Exceptionally comfortable room and a very welcoming atmosphere. The hotel is light and bright and elegant without being stuffy.
The food in the restaurant was excellent and we enjoyed talking to other walkers in the separate and relaxing residents lounge.
I noticed that staff went out of their way to accommodate people's food preferences and we're patient and helpful, despite being busy.
Our room was lovely and spacious with a large comfy bed.. and it had a bath which was very relaxing. Breakfast was good and so was dinner. The staff were polite and friendly, and very accommodating to our little rescue dog. We loved the fact that the hotel was so close to beautiful local walks (literally across the road from the Inn).
We had such a lovely weekend here, the building is a wonderful old Victorian pub/hotel with great spaces beautifully decorated and furnished. We had a wonderful dinner of the owners’ beef & good breakfast next morning. We were walking Two Moors Way which goes past door so perfect location. Staff were friendly and helpful.
This is an exceptional country hotel, it is independent, run by a small enthusiastic team. The cooking is first class, breakfast and evening meal, and the ambience is enhanced by the wood burners in the resident's lounge and the dining area. Brilliant! Also a great spot in the middle of Exmoor.
Lovely traditional hotel with roaring fires of an evening, a four poster bed and stunning views. Very comfortable hotel with excellent customer service and friendliness from all the staff. The restaurant has an extensive menu. Very well located for walking on Exmoor. They offer packed lunches.
Beautiful location with an amazing view of the moors, super friendly and helpful staff who provided a very personal touch to our stay. The evening meals were delicious. The hotel has a fascinating history which Andrew was pleased to share with us. A lovely spot for an away from it all break.
A pleasant and cosy family-run hotel, particularly suitable for business trips as well as for exploring Exmoor. An excellent full English breakfast, delicious cuisine, friendly and helpful staff. The desk in my room was quite handy for PC work.
Super friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food - both breakfast and dinner with great vegan menu as well! Lovely comfortable rooms and excellent central location in Exmoor for cycling routes or running/walking.
Thank you
The whole experience of our stay at the hotel was absolutely excellent.
The staff were the best we have come across.
Our verdict is that we will definately stay at this hotel again in the near future.
Central location for the activities we wanted to do in Exmoor National Park. Meals were good especially on Sunday and especially Sunday when it was going to be difficult to find someplace open.
