Offered a perfect base for a weekend exploration of Hartland Peninsula. Good facilities in property meant I had everything I needed to hand. I enjoyed the morning visitations from the local chickens!

What a fantastic hotel the red lion is. From arriving early and visiting the excellent staff on reception to checking in later in the day our stay was brilliant. We stayed in one of the rooms under the sail loft and it exceeded out expectations, it was fantastic with a gorgeous cosy bed that we both slept like logs on! We dined in the snug bar and the food was delicious, breakfast the next morning was also delicious with lovely views over the harbour. Clovelly itself is a beautiful village with plenty of things to see and do. Top tip: get the land rover (free if staying at the red lion) to the top of the village and enjoy a nice walk back down. Can't wait to return
