The Darlington, hotel in Davidstow

The Darlington is located in Camelford. Free WiFi is available and free parking is available, some on site and some a one-minute walk away.

The property was difficult to access at first the door was dodgy. We accessed and did not have a room number but the telephone call came back quite quickly. The room was a little over crowded with furniture , the two arm chairs were not necessary. The room was clean and tidy but a little dated. The en-suite bathroom was fine and the shower was great. It was central to town but there is little in the town. We purchased a chinese and returned to the room where bowls and cutlery were provided which were ideal. For the money paid we thought it was fine.

Pendrin Guest House, hotel in Davidstow

Well....... One of the owners greeted us, friendly. Our room was on the top floor, and quite small for two adults. Room was clean , bed was very uncomfortable, could feel bed springs, left with back hurting after two nights.bathroom door creaked very loud so you could hear other occupant using toilet. Bathroom had cool modern mirror, shower was tiny. Outside of building needed refurbishment, at least some paint. Breakfast was ok. Ordered "full english' sausage was undercooked and slightly raw in the middle. Asked for scrambled eggs and got one fried egg instead. Yogurt was gone off and warm. Not much offering for "continental side. They did offer fresh fruit bowl, but didnt see any fruit out. one toaster and a bit of a competition to use it. Jam packets seemed old. Brewed coffee was ok, but could have been hotter. Just the two owners running everything , so understandable to be a bit overwhelmed. I would say invest in some comfortable mattresses, and maybe hire a breakfast cook if possible. It was not horrible, and location was near the Castle. Walking distance to pub, store, and restuarant. 204 pounds for two nights so not super pricey.

The chalet was perfect but Davidstow itself is a little far...

The chalet was perfect but Davidstow itself is a little far from main attractions such as St. Ives, Lands End, Minnock Theatre, St Michael's mount Also Davidstow is inland and does not have sea-view. This did not matter as we travelled around. We used the Co-op in Castleford which was 5 miles away. On attractions Lands End, the stunning Minnock Theatre and intagel Castle would alone make a trip to Cornwall worthwhile but visting these and the lovely harbours requires around 200 miles of driving. I would mention that entry fees are expensive and came as a shock; eg Bodmin Prison £14. But overall very positive.
