Staff friendly. Lovely breakfast and good food in the evening. Server at breakfast was very friendly and efficient. Most of the guests seemed to arrive for breakfast about the same time, but she wasn't fazed and served everyone with efficiency.

The staff at the C2C pub are superb and without them this would have been a mediocre (at best) hotel - but they absolutely went out of their way to make me feel welcomed and comfortable and, to be honest, that's worth so much more than a room which was a bit tired and shabby. Dinner was great and we were all happy with the quality and the quantity.

The best part of staying at the Old Barn is without a doubt...
The best part of staying at the Old Barn is without a doubt the stunning location and scenery. It is a peaceful haven surrounded by wildlife and the wonderful North York Moors.
Its a great central location to visit the lovely coastline here such aa Whitby, Staithes, Saltburn etc and a special treat for us was to go to Ravenscar and see the grey seal colony. Blakey Ridge nearby holds a special place in my heart as does Rosedale where you will see some fantastic views. A drive up Chimney Bank in Rosedale is a must, whwre you will find the old disused kilns, and a lot of quality walks.
All of this without being too far from shops, pubs and restaurants. We will definitely be going back again when we get the chance. Can't wait for the next visit!

The owners and staff were friendly and welcoming.
The owners and staff were friendly and welcoming. We could quite comfortably sit in the pub, read, listen to the locals chat and eat some delicious food. Breakfast was perfect to set us up for a long day of walking and the views were beautiful.
