The location of this hotel when arriving by train can't be beat. It is literally at the front door of the station. This could be such a nice hotel if the owner would put little money into it. For what we needed it was ok.
Located in the city centre and opposite Carlisle Rail Station, The County Hotel is just a 5-minute walk from Carlisle Cathedral.

Lovely staff on the day I checked in especially been a lone traveller with disabilities I found them extremely helpful friendly chatty especially the young chap on the late shift. He should be recognised for his lovely mannerism and care of his customers providing loads of advice and recommendations from history of the building which I love places to get food or to visit
The Crown and Mitre Hotel is located in the centre of Carlisle city centre, with shops and local historic attraction such as Carlisle Cathedral and Castle just 2 minutes' walk from the hotel.

Dalston village is beautiful, but Carlisle Town, what we saw of it was uninspiring and unattractive.
Lots of road works , confusing road systems and busy. Not a bit like the other lake district towns.
Perhaps we hadn't seen the best of it to be fair.

Quite an underrated town.
Quite an underrated town. The castle and cathedral are very interesting, plenty of history to see. I like it most because you can quite easily travel to fantastic locations from all directions; Hadrian's wall & Newcastle to the East, Ribblehead & the Lake district to the South, the scenic Cumbrian coast to the West & the Historic Southern lowlands of Scotland to the North!

Convenience as a base to visit more of Cumbria.
Convenience as a base to visit more of Cumbria. If like me you don't drive its good to have a base with plenty of public transport to enable you to see a variety of places. Carlisle itself is easy to walk round, everything within walking distance.

I was only there for a quick one-night stop.
I was only there for a quick one-night stop. The weather was so bad in the evening that I did not venture far, but I found a decent fish-and-chip shop.
Got up early in the morning and went for a walk. I did like the city centre area, and especially the historic area.
The breakfast at this hotel was excellent, the location was brilliant out the door around the conner you were in the town. The staff was friendly the chap Dale on the reception was very kind, help he gave us was just totally smashing my mum walks with a stick he went beyond and made sure we were happy I will definitely pay a visit back at Carlisle and will be staying in the country hotel the manger needs to know what a cracking lad Dale is keep up the good work we hope to see you when we return. 😀
This was our second stay here as we returned from Scotland. We expressed our dismay at the room we had on the first visit as I have health problems and getting our very heavy case to our room somewhere down the labyrinth at the back of the hotel was a mission of stairwells. This second stay was so much better, and thanks to the receptionist who ensured that we had a better room. We appreciate that the hotel is undergoing renovations and this room proved that it is a job well done.
The flat is a 15-20 walk from the Carlisle train station but took a cab since we had luggage. The flat itself was very nice and comfortable. It had a nice kitchen, the living room was a good size and the bedrooms had comfy beds and the rooms themselves were very roomy. There is a Sainsbury 5 minutes away which was convenient and the castle was a 10 minute walk. Overall, i would highly recommend this property and would stay here again if I'm ever in Carlisle.
Everything you expect from an Ibis. Clean, great value, decent facilities, great breakfasts! Room layout the same as all other Ibis hotels I've stayed in. Staff really helpful and friendly and the hotel is in a fantastic location. Carlisle is a really nice quaint town with lots of nice restaurants. The hotel is a 1 min walk from the train station, a 2 min walk from the town centre, and a 10 min walk to Carlisle United's football stadium.
Very helpful staff and nice hotel. Bed very comfy and hotel is in a nice location. The breakfast is very good with all you need to eat and drink in the morning. Great chef and very helpful. I would highly recommend this place to all looking to stay in Carlisle for the night. I would definitely return to this hotel to all, not bad value for money considering the time of year. All good very happy. 👍
Great food in evening, obviously short staffed but the staff there were doing their best. Swimming pool and spa were excellent.
Hotel room was dated but functional.
The pull out bed was a bit disappointing, very uncomfortable.
190 quid for 4 people , 2 rooms with kitchen was pretty good value.
This is a comfortable hotel right in the centre of Carlisle. The breakfast was lovely, the staff friendly and the swimming pool was at a great temperature. We were in the annex where the room was quite small but perfectly adequate. The reception and dining area were very grand.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was to much trouble for them. Great position for a place to stop. Clean and tidy will stop there again and recommend it to all people that want to stop in Carlisle.
The location is great, the staff are brilliant the room was excellent. Weve stayed at The Cumbria Park Hotel at least a dozen times over the years and its still one of the best Hotels in Carlisle.
Beautiful hotel. Rooms was very comfortable and spacious. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. couldn’t do enough for us. would definitely visit again. Breakfast excellent.
The room was not dirty.
The location was convenient to getting to Carlisle centre and there was a large car park which could be used free of charge when staying at the hotel.
fabulous hotel to stop outside Carlisle . i got there late so couldn’t fully enjoy the pool and spa but did get a swim in .
great evening meal and very comfortable room .
