Boasting a garden and a bar, The Victory at Mersea is set in West Mersea. This property also has a restaurant and a children's playground. Both free WiFi and private parking are accessible at the inn....
Very pleasant relatively low key resort. The local museum is exceptional. The food available was disappointing - pub fare (fine but not for every lunch and dinner) - with no stall/restaurant selling crab sandwiches or edible shell fish.
Well worth taking the foot ferry to Point Clear for a walk. Very relaxing walks along the river as well.

Loved Brightlingsea.
Loved Brightlingsea. We were pleasantly surprised how peaceful and pretty it was. The museum was very interesting and loved the lake & beach huts. We ate at the Yachtsman twice and the Rosebud. Enjoyed our meals at both places. We travelled out most days to Mersea, Dedham, Holland -0n -Sea, Maldon and Colchester and would recommend all these places.

Brightlingsea is a quaint little town.
Brightlingsea is a quaint little town. Only one way in one way out everyone said and it’s true. Lovely fish and chips in Winkees and a great selection in the kebab shop we even brought some home there was so much left over. The pub we stayed in The Freemasons arms is so friendly and live music most weekends. We went to the promanade to see a music festival which although weather not great we still had a great time. Also it’s not far from clacton on sea where there is lots to do there. A great stay.
Welcoming. Very clean. Homely. Nothing too much bother... asked for a shower mat. Was there when we opened the door next morning! Chocolate provided. Food basics all provided in fridge. Nice little bits left for guest use... including tea and coffee/ some bathroom things like shampoo and conditioner(happy to use what was left by others!) Really couldn't fault it. And location.. well... my favourite place in Brightlingsea... having been a local before, I know my locations! Bed to beach: 2 minutes at most. 😊
This accommodation is a large garage which has been converted into a one-bedroom apartment. It is situated at the back of a house at the end of the garden, facing the sea. the bedroom contains a standard size double bed which is slightly small for someone who measures 6’ 4”. The small kitchen is adequate with an induction hotplate. the bathroom is quite cramped with a very tiny washbasin. It is possible to park in the small road at the back. Overall a pleasant one night stay.
The hosts were super helpful with the keys for a late arrival. I was working for the week in Colchester a 30 mins drive away and this apartment was a great choice. Home from home as opposed to a soulless premier inn (sorry Lenny Henry!). Bijou but comfortable and a nice surprise was the new wifi. I was up early for work but could road noise may be an issue for a late lie in. Would not hesitate to book again when in the area.
.
it was very spacious and lots of home comforts such as salt and vinegar and cleaning equipment. the garden is just perfect. very quiet area even with a pub a few yards away. beds are comfy and it’s much bigger than you think. perfect base to see all of brightlingsea and surrounding areas.
The central location was great with a couple of pubs practically across the street. It was located a walk from a pub with food and no restaurants were nearby but it is really a self catering stay with a commual kitch and dining area. We had a comfortable and enjoyable couple of nights.
Lovely accommodation - clean and comfortable in an idyllic rural setting. Welcoming host and a short drive to a small town with everything you need. Perfect for a weekend away with the kids.
Modern, comfortable, warm and clean. A perfect base for a few days in Brightlingsea. Street parking nearby. Just a few minutes walk to local shops and takeaways.
