Lovely location, great facilities for cooking and friendly host.
Overlooking Lochinver Bay in the Scottish Highlands, this hotel has an award-winning restaurant with picturesque views.

An overall pleasant stay but very overpriced. The staff were lovely, the room large and comfortable but in need of some updating. I'd stay here again if they had a good offer for the view, but not the breakfast or the dinner which were disappointing.
Boasting lake views, Wilma's Guest House offers accommodation with a shared lounge, around 35 km from Inverewe Garden. This guest house features free private parking and a housekeeping service.

A beautifully furnished home which was modern and comfortable. The two hosts were welcoming and informative. Breakfast was delicious. The views out of the bedroom window were to die for.

This is a wonderful place well off the main tourist trail and requires reasonable driving skills to reach due to the twisting single lane roads. This also means it is quiet and the scenery as you approach the property is fantastic.
I actually stayed at Loch View in Rieff which is even more remote and lovely. The cottage overlooks its own Loch and you wake up to bird sing and gulls flitting across the loch. The sea is just beyond that. On clear days you can see the Outer Hebrides.
Its well worth doing the set walks in this region, most of them are easy to moderate in difficulty and if you take your time, I should imagine most healthy people will be able to manage them. This is a wilderness region of moors and mountains and so walking boots are a must.
Some of the more interesting paths are not marked, so you will need moderate orienteering skills. Its should however not be possible to get lost, just muddy. The nights here in winter are very dark, so carry a torch. Night skies are spectacular when not clouded and occasionally the Northern Lights can be seen here.
Whilst here it is well worth visiting Lochinver and its many walks, the Assynt Estate and if you like hill climbing then the numerous mountains in the Assynt. The views from nearly anywhere (even the road) are fantastic and so even those who do not like walking will not be disappointed by this region.
Ullapool is probably the major shopping centre in this area, and that is a very small town, so do not expect a huge number of shops or restaurants. It dose however have two small but good bookshops.
Public toilets in Lochinver, ullapool, Scourrie and Durness.
Explore the small single track roads and do not just stick to the main road.

A lovely village well-off the beaten track.
A lovely village well-off the beaten track. There is a local licenced shop - Achiltibuie Stores - that has excellent stock of almost everything you could want (including key card batteries and petrol) and highly recommended. The scenery is superb, with a small group of islands - The Summer Isles - to the south and majestic mountains to the north. Beware the 'wee mad road' from Achiltibuie to Lochinver is not for the faint-hearted and certainly not for campervans or caravans! There are superb, deserted beached nearby with white sand and turquoise water. The Summer Isles hotel (and bar) are highly recommended.
An absolute gem!

The location is very remote but lovely.
The location is very remote but lovely. We didn't eat in the restaurant other than for breakfast which was very good. Achiltibuie is on very narrow roads and it takes a while to get there, but the scenery is awesome. I think it would be best to go and just stay there. Unfortunately the rooms were very expensive for what was delivered.

It's the perfect place to switch off from the world for a while. You need a reliable car because the drive there is on single track roads, but the views are utterly breathtaking. Its not just a place for outdoor pursuits, although there are many (walking, climbing, kayaking etc); it's a good place to start the NC500 from too. Great local food (fish anyone?) and beers. And if you're lucky you will avoid the midges!

High prices for what is, rather disappointedly, an average hotel.
Old building so it will never be perfect but the rooms were very clean and spacious.
Food prices are astronomical but portion sizes are very small and the quality is just not there either.
Staff were all great and breakfast was good but just come away feeling a bit let down.

The area beaches are beautiful, the scenery is wonderful.
The area beaches are beautiful, the scenery is wonderful. We visited Fisk Gallery and workshops, what a fine place where local crafts people work and show their unique pieces and craftsmanship. The music playing while we visited was local musicians and it reminded us of trips to Nova Scotia, wonderful! Auchiltibue is a peaceful place of great beauty and well worth a visit.
WOW. This place was our second last stop on a 5 night whistle-stop tour of my bonnie Scotland. It was chosen because it fitted in with the travelling we had to do each day.
We expected nothing special but we could not have been more wrong. Wonderful host, so helpful, and friendly. We dined at the local hotel down the road and enjoyed a mile walk home after our meal along one of the quietest and most beautiful settings, I think I have EVER seen. I didn't want to leave. You MUST stay here. Book it, book it NOW.
I liked being self contained with a lovely view and the chance of see wild animals. We could see gannets diving in the bay and the Summer Isles.
It was warm inside and the additional outside chairs could be very useful in the right weather.
Lovely to be able to enjoy such a remote area.
Easy walk to the Summer Isles Hotel for lovely food.
Great area if you like vintage tractors!.
What an amazing location! Beautiful landscapes of mountain and coast, and peacefully remote. The pods were warm and cosy with comfortable beds and lovely bathrooms. Wish we had stayed longer. Also wish we had brought some food supplies as the local shop was closed when we arrived on a Sunday - luckily we could get dinner at the nearby Summer Isles hotel!
We loved our stay at the summer isles. We stayed for one night. We were greeted by a lovely girl who immediately took our bags up to our room. We had a lovely room at the front of the house overlooking the views. Really comfortable bed and bedding. The hotel also booked us into their bistro for dinner which was yummy! Lovely toiletries.
The location of the hotel is excellent. Also the staff was very friendly. Regrettably, we really only stayed there for a night as we arrived there very late and the next day we had to continue our journey. We definately want to go back there and try their restaurant and explore the neighburhood.
This Hotel is located along an isolated road with exceptional views and lots of opportunity for walking, Lovely bar area with picture window of uninterrupted coastal views. Very good restaurant with great food. The room was comfortable in an annex next to the Hotel.
This is truly a hidden gem in the Highlands countryside. What a beautiful location! The beds are very comfortable and the staff is super friendly and accommodating. If you want to get off the beaten path without sacrificing comfort, this is the place for you!
The pod was situated at the most idyllic view. It has all the essentials and was the perfect little place to stay on our route through Scotland! Would highly recommend the Summer Isles Hotel for supper and the coastal walk for a post check out stroll!
Location very good but a long way off the beaten track - no doubt very picturesque but shrouded in mist the whole of our stay. (Not the hotel’s fault!!!) Superb food in the restaurant, very friendly and professional staff - mostly!
The atmosphere was perfect, luxurious and cosy at the same time. The food was delicious and the views from the lounge fantastic. We also enjoyed the walk we took on the headlands near the hotel. We would definitely return!
A really great place, has everything you need, comfortable and cozy, great location next to the shop and a short walk to the hotel that has great food!! A perfect place for a holiday!
lovely comfortable warm sea view room. all around hotel was cosy. welcoming staff. beautiful location. fabulous views in the evening too. Lovely food in restaurant & bar area.
Accommodation was what was expected.
Tea and coffee provided on arrival.
