A beautiful if quirky building. The suite was individual in style but spacious and comfortable. The evening meal was outstanding. Breakfast was individually laid out and had everything required.

We were two tired and hungry pilgrims on the Via Francigena who arrived without food due to another French public holiday in May and a lack of shops in the area. We also had difficulty finding accommodation and Bouconville-Vauclair is not on the designated route. The hostess, Magali, was simply outstanding. She offered to prepare us an evening meal – which was magnificent, and this was followed with a superb breakfast the next morning. The accommodation can more correctly described as a newly constructed self-contained unit with all amenities you require. Magali turned our brief stay into one of the highlights of our entire walk. From the moment we arrived it was evident we had found a gem. Aga could not do enough for us. The property itself is as the pictures portray it to be. The relaxed atmosphere set us up for a great European tour in our sports cars. Parking inside the property grounds was very safe. The evening meal could be a little worrying as no menu. Fear not you can’t fail to enjoy Aga’s cooking but if you do she will find an alternative. Breakfast was just what you want in a French farmhouse.

I stayed at the apartment when attending the Circuit Historique de Laon with my classic MG. Itwas in a super location on the main square in a quiet village around 7.5km from Laon. Free parking was available in the square outside the apartment and the village had a small supermarket, a super boulangerie and a filling station. Driving into Laon was very easy.
The apartment is superbly refurbished, with a large and spacious living area, a well fitted kitchen, good bedroom and excellent shower room. The host, Paulo, gave clear directions to access the apartment and the key box. It really was an excellent place to stay.
L'Auberge de Vauclair is a recently renovated bed and breakfast in Bouconville-Vauclair, where guests can make the most of its garden and shared lounge.
