We loved our visit to Mansle , there are many lovely walks whether around the historic streets or a more rural walk , it was very quiet and we felt extremely safe. There are a few quant bars and cafe's and also a couple of decent restaurants.

It was our first time in the Charente area.
It was our first time in the Charente area. We had no expectations. We were very pleasantly surprised. The accommodation package was outstanding. We discovered the beautiful, quiet and picturesque area by three days biking in and around the local villages and a day exploring the Charente river in a Canadian canoe we rented. The only two local restaurants were great value with good choices. We had such a great time that we stayed an extra night.

Small village , quite quiet with only two places to eat but a number of places where literally 10 minute drive away so we where not bothered about this , I think families with teenagers would find Mansle to quiet but for us it was a great location for us to base ourselves and explore other areas We visited Verteuil, Brantôme, , cognac, Angouleme, we hired a car and the whole area is easy to get around. Canoeing and cycling are really popular in this area . We went to the chateau in verteuil but I was disappointed that you cannot go into the chateau just the chapel, library and an old Kitchen so if you want to go to a chateau do not go to this one .

A small SW French town, sadly little to draw any tourism, it has a few corner style shops, a Supermarket with good value fuel. No real bars to speak of, although Google Maps show a few - ghosts, possibly long gone, one we looked for was a garage. Really a town to stay in when friends live close by, nothing more unless you expect to drive at least 2 hours for sights or historical locations. There are both a Hotel and apartments for rent, I would err towards staying in the Hotel if at all in this town.MarcusLuxembourg

The location within a village étape was perfect for a few nights stopover on the way back from southern France. Mansle has all the facilities one would need and renting canoes on the river is high recommended. It is 20 mins drive from the city of Angoulême which has a beautiful ancient centre and dozens of great restaurants. There is a brilliant watersports lake on the outskirts, even closer to Mansle.

I left with a cucumber from the garden to munch on my bike which was delicious! They let us use the washing machine and I forgot to offer money, amazing stay ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
