The town was close by and had all the amenities you could hope for. The restaurants were all varied and excellent value. Frontera itself was centrally located, the ideal place to explore the readt of the island. The roads are excellent and mostly easy to drive with the exception of a mountain pass to the south of the island which was pretty hair raising but good fun if care taken.

La Frontera is a lively, small town that offers all for the daily needs. Good location to experience the island of El Hierro.
Many small restaurants, bars and small supermarkets and sports shops.
In comparison, Valverde, despite capital, seems deserted and kind of depressing. La Restinga is too far away from anything else on the island.
My recommendation therefore is clearly the area of La Frontera.

A beautifull Island, very different than all other Canary Islands. Its Nature is very well preserved, its under UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, its fossil free, has lots of very well marked hiking ways allover the island, beautifull Natural pools on the coasts, some few black sand beaches, the highlands / mountain regions are very green with old Canary Pine trees and Laurel trees, a lot of endemic plants, the coasts are more vulcanic, some very barren, the views from all the Miradors are stunning. you feel far away from everything, clean air, very clear sea, wind, waves, sunshine, cooling climate in the mountains, warm on the coasts...all this you can experience on this small island.

Very quiet, but still enough local amenities, even on a Sunday. Within easy reach of some of the best scenery and walking I have ever experienced! Great bar called Canary Burger, right on Tigaday Plaza, open all hours. Still fairly easy to get to by bus, and enough great locations and trails to visit by bus.
For me, El Sitio is a special place. Not so much a hotel but a creative, restorative retreat. The garden terraces connected beautifully with my simple, well equipped bedroom/kitchen studio. An invitation to live as much outside as inside. There are plenty of semi-private corners around the property in which to read, write, paint or simply stare out to the cliffs and sea. Proprietor Sabine added to the experience by recounting an interesting social history background to the island. Hoping to return soon!
VV CRUZ ALTA is in the centre of Frontera Tigaday and convenient for the nearby restaurants, cafes and supermarket . The owner provides off road private car-parking nearby. The apartment has been recently refurbished to a high standard with modern bathrooms, showers and kitchen. The property was very clean on arrival and there is a roof terrace with a view down to the sea. The owner was very friendly and helpful.
All. I liked everything, the room, the restaurant, the people who attend, the location is amazing, the sound of the sea is incredibly relaxing. In general, it is difficult for me to sleep in hotels but there I slept in the most comfortable way and with the best background music (the sound of the waves breaking against the cliff).
The view of the mountains where stunning and hotel was cozy, with your own entrance and chairs and tables to
sit on outside in the common area, even some sun beds. The staff was kind and often available. Great air condition and good beds. Close to the bus stop and lots of parking spots. I will be back.
Lots of space in the appartment with confortable terrace and nice view. The place is well equiped.
The communication with the owner was very good and friendly.
It is quite and close to the shops and restaurants. Frontera is a good place to explore El Hierro
Lovely hotel, very clean and comfortable, good room and excellent facilities, nice touches in the room - fresh fruit one day, chocolates the next. Fridge and tea and coffee making facilities was a real bonus.
The property is in a central location in the island on the edge of the town Frontera but close to a good restaurant a small well-stocked supermarket. There is parking for one car and there are two bedrooms,
Nice room in the center of Frontera for a great price, 2 minutes walking to 3 supermarkets and close to the guagua bus stops for Valverde and Sabinosa where lots of amazing hiking trails start
Nice staff, although they donnot speak English. You can however call the number on booking or send a message. Room had airco, a fan and a fridge. Very nice. Also came with shampoo and such.
