A beautiful place to stay at the beginning of Spring.
A beautiful place to stay at the beginning of Spring. Lots of historical buildings to see, lovely gardens and the river is flowing well. The York museum is well worth a visit. The Salvos have a great jumble sale, items are very cheap and good quality - worth the visit just for this! And you get free entertainment at the same time!

There are little shops and interesting places to visit in the town centre and its surrounds. I enjoyed my 2 days there. That was enough time for me. I suggest planning your day and looking at the opening hours of the places you want to visit as almost everything closes by 5pm. I suggest visiting the Old Flour Mill which has a cafe and an interesting collection of art and vintage items for sale. The old gaol is also worth a visit.

An amazing Town steeped in history, excellent heritage buildings, surrounded by wonderful privately owned properties, being winter the countryside could be easily have been mistaken for any where in the English countryside. Dining out is not a problem with all tastes catered for in hotels and restaurants, all within easy walking.

The town people were very friendly and helpful, this is a good location to allow you to easily visit the other small towns close by. A lot of old buildings and things to see. any car enthusiasts will enjoy the Motor Museum best display of all brands of vehicles.
This is a truly wonderful p;lace to stay at when visiting York. Jeanette and Paul are so welcoming, and the stay was one to remember. We loved our cosy bedroom, fluffy bath towels and lots of little extras. The place is very interesting and quite unique and Jeanette and Paul are wonderful hosts. We couldn't fault this place - warm, exceptionally clean' such attention to detail and a delicious breakfast. We felt really treated,.Top value!
The hotel section is accommodation only, right in the middle of town, so a great location. Settlers dining room/bar is a separate building in front of the accommodation, right on the main street. Ensuite rooms were comfortable with a mini bar fridge for snacks and drinks. I have stayed in a lot of country WA accommodation and Settlers is 'top quartile'. Some good quality, quirky breakfast options along the main street.
Cottage located in a perfect spot, close to everything there is to do in York. Decorated in a country charm way, really makes you feel like you’ve escaped “City life” for a bit. Animals and play area on property were a delightful bonus, kept the kids entertained for hours. Cottage was clean and well maintained. Linen, beds and pillows all felt very clean ( which is a huge positive for me ) can’t wait to visit again.
Extremely well priced for a clean, comfortable bed & bedding, good shower with lots of hot water, towels & toiletries.
York is very quiet little town, stores mostly close at 4pm. We had takeout from the Chinese restaurant on Avon-it was very good.
Following am after checkout we went to the Nuygen Bakery for coffee & a sweet, also very tasty. the IGA grocery store right across the street.
We were three friends who were visiting York for a tournament so we found Hillside Retreat cottage perfect for its locality (edge of town but felt like the country). We were warmly welcomed with a roaring woodfiredburner heating the house. It was super quiet, beds were comfortable, showers were hot, very relaxing. Good value for the price we paid.
Had a small problem when we arrived but was fixed in no time . Saul Bliss even help us with a problem that had nothing to do with the accommodation. Wonderful service well above what was in required. bed comfy best sleep in years . thanks for making our short stay so carefree . Will be Back and would recommend this hotel if you are going to York
Extremely accommodating and welcoming hosts. A very pleasant trip into yesteryear, with immaculate taste in vintage collectables. Slot of complimentary amenities in the room. Personalised breakfast at a pre-arranged time (how many hotels actually offer this?).
extremely good value for the money we paid, very comfortable beds, nice shower, well equipped kitchen, undercover outdoor seating area, tennis courts, very welcoming hosts, great location just 10 minutes walk to the main street of York
The property was well maintained and very clean. The bed was comfortable and bathroom was great. Breakfast was lovely and the owners were very friendly.
