We loved the location of Pilliga Pottery and the fact that it is a working farm which has fantastic walks on the property, the pottery lessons, a nice cafe and interesting accommodation. We were able to take our dogs, too.

Now, we were there for work, and I managed to get sick, so I missed out on a few attractions, but Coona seems like a nice, friendly town. My family managed to get to see one of the observatories, and see some of the planets in real life, including Saturn's rings, so they were absolutely stoked. Apparently a new telescope will be operating there soon, with even better views.

Good sized town with lots of accommodation options.
Good sized town with lots of accommodation options. Good supermarket in town and options for fuel. Excellent bakery and other food options right in town. Great base for visits to the Warrumbungle NP and the Pilliga Scrub NP. A Dark Sky town with information easily obtained. Felt comfortable walking around town after business hours.
It was my first experience of an BnB for a long while now, and Langley's host did an awesome job. There were 4 rooms in the Cottage, once Coonabarabran's private hospital, and the twin room was perfect for my son and I who passed the night while on the Newell Highway. Guests shared the bathroom, kitchen and lounge room. Cook your own brekkie - host supplied bacon, eggs, bread, fruit, yoghurt, milk, juice, etc. Parking was allowed in the back yard which meant my car wasn't kept at the kerbside.
This was a story of the hotel from hell. No exaggeration The sheets had not been changed since last client. Their was hair and flaky skin. Pillow cases smelt like dirty hair and had a blood spot on on. The tap dripped all night. Shower curtain in shared bathroom was torn right though the middle and the trucks just keep going on the busy road all night. The shared kitchen was filthy. Microwave shocked me.
The room was a good size, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was functional. Access and parking was very good. Although there are not many restaurants in town they are all an easy walk from the hotel and local food was very good. There is a large Woolworths shop within 500 meters from the hotel and the National Park is an easy drive away.
Perfect distance between Coonabarabran and the Warrumbungles. The pool was great in the hot weather. Nice property to walk around and nice open sky views at night.
There were some let downs but this place is ideally located and we might stay here again. Hopefully the management fix the issues we encountered.
Despite the central location, The Imperial Hotel was very quiet at night. The rooms are minimalistic but comfortable - including the bed. The water pressure and shower head in the shower was good. The lounge area and kitchen was a nice touch - including a large fridge for storage.
in its hey day, this motel would have been rather high class I think. it’s run down now, however we were in the pet friendly room, which was as expected but so great this hotel welcomes our furry family members.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming - recommended great places for us to eat dinner (Imperial Hotel) and breakfast (Feathers Cafe). Room/beds were very comfortable. Good amount of space.
A new bathroom and the bed was very comfortable. The room was very clean and well kept and was the right size for me and the wife who in some hotels we stayed in didn't bump into each other.
