Quiet location with very clever steampunk decorations. Breakfast was excellent local fare. We stayed here while hiking the Caminho Portuguese and it is a nice change from albergues. Greatly appreciated them providing us with bread, meat, cheese and wine so we didn’t have to walk back to town for dinner. If you stay here be sure to pet their very cute dog, Laika.

Our stay at Retiro do Bosque was such a welcome, cozy retreat. Although the weather was very rainy, it was really lovely to sit in the main room by the fire. Having access to warm drinks and cake was a nice treat. The room was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was a lovely and tasty assortment of local and fresh products. It was so nice to meet Joao and his mother – very kind and hospitable hosts : ) We were in the area visiting some UNESCO sites. We only wished we had more time to enjoy the space and the location.
