Set in a renovated historic building, this family-run guest house offers individually decorated rooms in Mértola’s old city. The courtyard offers views of Guadiana River and the Mértola Castle.

Each room at MyStay - Mértola Castelo Palace features antique furniture, and unique artworks and pottery. Some include a country-style bathroom with dark marble vanities.

What an adventure to stay in a medieval “palace” though with modern plumbing and lighting! Mertola has a number of small, very interesting museums with items collected from archeological digs and disused religious facilities — sacred art, Islamic art, a Roman house — along with a fairly intact castle and archeological sites. It is well worth visiting and Mertola Castelo Palace is just steps from all of this.

Many games and books that were for adults and children to enjoy. The staffs are very friendly although we don't speak the language. We were welcomed by Joao, a great host, who provided breakfast and helpful information for us. For example, he had books for us about birds and other wildlife when he found out that we are nature enthusiasts and he gave us hiking maps as well. The Guest House is fabulous and equipped with everything one can wish. Great restored house with lots of charme in the old town of Mertola! We loved our stay!

The room we had (15) was spacious and luxurious with a balcony looking out over the swimming pool and the river towards the castle and walled town. The hotel is in a very quiet place and there was a great restaurant within 10 minutes walk.
