The weather was very cold but we were very warmed by the hospitality of our hosts - Takeshi San and Yoshiko San, their daughter Nobu San, and their cute cat Mamezo Chan. Dinner was an authentic Japanese dining experience that brought the farm to the table. The traditional Japanese setup, with a massive boiling iron kettle over a firepit, adds a unique charm to the experience. The food was exquisite, beautifully presented and delicious. They have 2 units available. First is a family room which is part of the main building where the hosts live and where the meals are prepared and served. The traditional Japanese design of the room, coupled with the proximity to the heart of the guest house, contributed to a truly authentic experience. The Second unit is a three bedroom house. The furnishings and design are more modern and whimsical, almost studio Ghibli like. My favorite was actually the long hammock on the topmost floor which became my personal sanctuary haha. I left with a heavy heart because this was an unforgettable experience which will be very difficult to replicate.

29 km from Gala Yuzawa Snow Resort, Urasa Cottage @ Snow Countryside is a recently renovated property situated in Minami Uonuma and features air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi and private parking. This booking was so much more than we expected! As a family of 6, it was wonderful to have so many amenities available. The views all around are stunning- we stopped at Kiyotsu gorge, sightsaw the Uonuma Skyline, took in the mountain reflections in the rice terraces, and stopped at 3 foot baths in the area. They even allowed our dog to stay too! Highly recommend booking Urasa Cottage. Thank you for the hospitality and wonderful stay!

This place had everything that we wanted like cookwares, basic seasonings. Only ingredients were needed. We could watch Netflix with 5.1 speaker. The bathtub was enough big. I smelled the water hot spring but not sure it was. Room was so clean and great atmosphere. The owner and his wife were nice too.

The property manager Natsumi-san was very very helpful when my nephew left his toy behind. Also, love the experience of living in a house with lots of history. The garden was very pretty and well maintained. The futon is not thin, so it was a comfortable sleep for us foreigners.
