Did not eat breakfast but for the price, the hotel is not bad at all. Room was pretty clean and tidy, wifi was good enough, all the appliances were clean/working, owner was friendly, shops and gas just across the street. Overall a comfortable stay with no negative experience (except the sight of trash lying on sides/back of the hotel corners/side walls...something that can be easily cleaned up).

A great location and cheaper option to explore the region by car. An hour drive to Boston, and so much more in the surrounding area. Place was simple, clean, and provided exactly what we needed, a bed for the night.

Great place to stay , especially for the price. Everything was clean. The beds were comfortable. Close to the interstate, so we didn't have to start too far from our route. We left too early to have breakfast, so I cannot comment on that. No complaints!
Old Sturbridge Village is the main attraction in town.
Old Sturbridge Village is the main attraction in town. It is a lovely trip for families. You enter the Village and you are transported to the 1800s. It is a full working village separate from the outside world. Once inside there are no cars, telephone wires, or anything to distract you from enjoying your day living in history.
Sturbridge also has many wonderful restaurants. Everything from a local gem-Cedar Street Grill, to pizza, fast food and ice cream.
Not far from Sturbridge (5 minutes) is Tree House Brewery which is known world wide!
Three times a year you will find the Brimfield Antiques Market just 15 minutes down Route 20.

We had some difficulty checking in to the Scottish Inn because the person at the desk couldn't find our reservation and English was not his primary language. The room we were assigned smelled horrible from smoke despite a non smoking room and the cable TV did not work. We were finally given another room which was much better. We didn't bother going for breakfast because the room was so small that four people would be over crowded so we went next door to Annie's for breakfast.

Was told that my 35 pound dog wasn't welcome however there was much larger dogs next to us that were always barking and very disruptive.
The staff treated us with disrespect and didn't want to let us have shampoo or more towels without us begging for them. Honestly I would never stay at such an incredibly horrible hotel again. Probably why they don't allow you refunds because they know how horrible they run their hotel.

In addition to the “Old World Charms” - I mentioned in my first part of my review……the Staff was amazingly helpful, friendly, and so professional - yet so welcoming.
The food at the restaurant is scrumptious and the dining room comfy!
Do Not miss The Bake Shoppe! Everything made on premise……eye candy! Sweets for the Soul!
Don’t miss this special “step back in time.”

Easy-pleased history buffs with young families yearning for...
Easy-pleased history buffs with young families yearning for the feel of colonial tymes will probably find Publick house the ideal introduction to old New England. Like all inns of its day, the facility is woefully undersized for today’s tourist business. Our assigned room was a short, up-hill saunter to one of the satellite annexes. Here the shelter rendered in “old construction” is 1950’s era old construction and the idea to include guest rooms seems to have been an afterthought. Rooms are plain but spacious. Bathroom motif closely matched the building’s period and closets were found in unexpected places.
.
Dining:
I ordered the very New England scrod; a delicious fish when properly prepared (it was) but encumbered by a repulsive sounding name. Like the folks at the reception desk, waiters were a joy to encounter, but the kitchen closes a 7 PM and service was painfully slow.

Reception terrible.
Reception terrible. No one there, had to wait long, seemed to resent me being there when he came. Disappeared after, so next travelers had the same problem. No wifi connection, or perhaps there was, but he didn't have any concept of how to set it up.
There was no breakfast available even though it’s why I chose the hotel. The front desk attendant tried twice to charge me for 2 nights instead of the 1 I booked. Fucking scammy bastard doing it all sneaky without telling me my total and getting me to run my card. There was no wifi and my data didn’t have the ability to work in the room. I felt like it was only okay to sleep in but it wasn’t anything I want to stay at again due to all the inconveniences that came along with it
I traveled here from Dallas, TX to be a travel nurse and where I was originally going to stay didn't work out.I found this hotel on my booking.com app.I was very nervous considering I don't no anything or anybody here. I CAN'T THANK JACK, NANCY, AND SMITH ENOUGH for accommodating me at such a short notice and it was late at night. The room was very nice, clean, comfortable, and inexpensive. Everything was so good that I'm going to spend my 8 weeks here.

Almost everything. But the Staff. Particularly Hotel Management. Especially hotel female manager. Rude unfriendly untrained. Inappropriate attire or dress code. Never honored. my third reservation. Kicked me out.
Her male manager told me not to come back. For no reason. I have never experienced such terrible customer service.the entire staff should be replaced. Or trained better.
The whole atmosphere was amazing. The colonial style, decoration, garden, swimming pool, everything was perfect! Also the staff was very kind and helpful. We got a free upgrade to the colonial part of the hotel.
The bake shoppe, where we could join the complementary cakes for overnight guests was really good. In one word: perfect. We would really recommend to stay here!
The Scottish Inn at Sturbridge isn't a luxury hotel, but it's clean, comfortable, and affordable. The couple who run it seem very nice. It's a great choice if you're traveling and need somewhere to stay for a night. There's a simple complimentary breakfast--it's nothing gourmet, but it was good to be able to grab a coffee and donut before hitting the road in the morning.
When I go there the beds are absolutely the most comfortable bed you'll probably have been a hotel not too firm not to soggy just right. same with the pillows. A lot of places I go to events halfway decent but the pillows are cheap and have no support please do the very nice. Everything is always clean staff is very friendly and it is close to major highways.
everything was great! The staff was super friendly and helpful, the room was large and comfortable, the place was clean and with an extremely pleasant atmosphere and there was plenty of parking. In short, the hotel exceeded my expectations! Additionally, there was a lovely restaurant just next door, as well as a convenience store and a gas station.
The bedding was dirty, the walls had stains. Worst of all, the other “guests” were questionable at best - my husband was approached in the parking lot, asking if he wanted to make “a quick $20” 😳
We did not stay, will be requesting a refund and went to another hotel where we actually paid less and felt way more comfortable!
The room was clean and comfortable with a mini fridge, microwave, and air conditioning. Beds were comfortable and smelled of bleach with plenty of pillows. The proprietors were nice enough. It's overall condition is consistent with the other private motels in the area. If you're picky stay in one of the national hotel chains.
We slept one night in the hotel, it was really nice. The staff was very welcoming. The kids had fun in the pool. The gym is very small but adequate. The breakfast is reasonable. The rooms were clean and big. Excellent value for the price.
The property is right on a lake/pond. a lot of restaurants were closed, but we were able to walk to dinner. the hotel was very worn. We enjoyed playing air hockey and pinball. Nothing was open and vending machines were interesting.
All of the folks at this Motel were extremely accommodating! They seemed to actually care about your needs and what would help to make it a better stay.
Highly recommend this Motel when in the Brimfield/Sturbridge area.
everything was great but the woman who helped us when we got to the room was absolutely amazing! I will definitely be staying her again mainly because of her but also because the hotel is very clean and nice.
I liked the cleanliness of the hotel and the room, the breakfast, the service from the front desk and from the gentlemen handling the breakfast area, the room was spacious and excellent, and it was quiet.
Very clean. It is owner run and it is obvious that the owner has pride in maintaining a clean establishment. The room was thoroughly cleaned each day, more so that many high end hotels I have stayed in.
We came to Brimfield Antiques week. The bed was absolutely wonder. Good towels, hot water. Ice easily accessible. We did not eat the breakfast but had coffee. Quiet hotel and well located.
Close to Sturbridge for bike ride the following morning. I was supposed to have a roommate but I had the room to myself. It was easy to wake up with a good night's sleep.
Good location. I chose this hotel as I was traveling with my dog and needed a place to stop on my long drive from PA to Maine. They advertise as being pet friendly.
Great location and a terrific staff. pretty grounds. our room was large and the bed/bedding quite comfortable. food in the hotel was good. bakery was yummy!
