Why were there so many taxes. Is it just the Ramada Hotel? Why is there a hotel tax and a room tax in addition to city and state taxes? I did not incurr hotel and room taxes a year ago at a Holiday Inn in Queens.

Queens is more modern and you have plenty of choices for food. I'm an Asian and the food in Queens are little bit different than Chinatown so really depends on the preference.
One thing I do notice are Queens has more Malls, big malls so is easy to shop for clothing. And also the hotel cost and parking are little bit cheaper than downtown. If you don't mind to take metro, Queens are good option.

This Queens neighborhood around Queens Plaza is a "happening" one. Lots of food options, excellent Manhattan connectivity, Pedestrian pathway along Queensboro bridge offers Manhattan-visit on foot, weather permitting !
Public laundromats, "convenience" stores are in the neighborhood.

There is a lot to do, many options to spend your day. Hotels are close to the Airport- minutes away. However, everything is expensive, we came from spending a few days in Cleveland and everthing in Queens was more expensive, especially food.

The location was great and A train across from hotel.
The location was great and A train across from hotel. I wish I arrived 1 extra day to see Queens but we were there just 1 day and headed to Time Square. And in morning had to flight out for our trip. But the area near hotel was nice and looks to have local restaurants around area
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Spring Hills in Queens, NY, and it was an experience I thoroughly enjoyed. From the moment I checked in, the staff was incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable. The room was modern, clean, and well-appointed with all the amenities I needed for a pleasant stay.
The location of the hotel is ideal, offering easy access to public transportation, making it a breeze to explore everything Queens and the broader New York City area have to offer.
I recently stayed at the Ravel Hotel with my husband. We got upgraded and we had an amazing and absolutely breath-taking view from our balcony ! Our room was really spacious and clean (and was kept clean even during our stay). Our bed was comfortable as well. The staff was very polite and helpful. The location is great too - it is situated next to Queensboro Bridge metro station so you can get easily and fast to Manhattan. This hotel is simply amazing! We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to NYC :-)
Home2 was one of the best decisions we as a family could make. For sure, it’s one of the most affordable and worthy hotels you could pay in New York. If you wanna stay in a hotel where the buffet breakfast is diverse and exquisite, rooms are wide and clean, and you get to be near to a metro station, then Home2 Suites is for you! You’re not paying for luxuries, it’s money invested into comfortability and safeness. 5 stars on my family’s behalf.
Perfect location. Don't let the first block or 2 fool you once you walk towards Gantry Plaza State Park its a different world perfect location. Value for money for a hotel near Manhattan especially for someone travelling from Europe. Also near subway stations about 5 mins away. The Breakfast was OK for a quick snack on the go shame they don't do hot food like scrambled eggs etc. The staff were pleasant and friendly.
The hotel is pretty close from the Line F Subway station 21st Street–Queensbridge, about 7-8 mins by walk. The room was pretty small, however the bed was comfortable, the room was pretty okay for the price. It had all the stuff we needed: coffee machine, microwave, decent fridge, hair dryer. I'd suggest this hotel if you are on a tight budget, and you'd rather spend your money on experiences, food etc. in NYC.
I had booked a double and asked if we could change to a twin when my mate didn't want to share a bed. They changed us to two queens for no extra cost. Absolute legends!! Room was massive, great TV selection, shower and bathroom were on point. Beds were super comfy and warm. We didn't use the food facilities but they looked great and you could order food to the hotel so that was a bonus.
Best place for the value for money to stay. The hotel doesn’t look fancy from outside but in terms on service ans quality of cleanliness and breakfast its a 10/10 place to stay. Its also quite close (3mins walking) to the metro station that takes to the heart of the NYC and almost anywhere nearby.
Buffet-style buffet with many options and good quantity. Room was good size and everyday cleaning was provided. Next to Queensboro metro station in LIC with 15/20 min direct access to midtown Manhattan. Staff was nice and attentive. Don't be put off by the hotel entrance!
The rooms are spacious by NYC standards. The hotel is conveniently located between Long Island City and Astoria. The restaurant on the first floor is great. The hotel room views and rooftop views provide a very unique and beautiful view of the the NYC skyline.
The hotel is exceptionally clean. Someone is cleaning common areas all the time. The staff are extremely helpful and visible when you need them. The location was easy to walk to everything in downtown Flushing, the Metro, and train station.
The hotel was located close to everything we wanted to do in Flushing. The staff was really friendly at check in. It’s you what you pay for hotel. Nothing fancy but good enough to spend two nights checking out restaurants in Flushing.
The hotel is near the airport, and the room was clean. The staff were very helpful and nice. I would put them in the top 20 of best hotel staff i have ever dealt with. The hotel is also 20 mn walk from the center of town.
The converted paper factory was located in a nice quiet Queens location, a great family hotel.
The subway stop 36th street was just 100m away, super easy to get into Manhattan. Hotel staff was really helpful 5 stars!
The best part about the hotel is the convenience of getting to and from JFK. The shuttle service made it an easy journey. The room was very clean but just super outdated.
Best thing is that this hotel has a really good restaurant, newly renovated bar, and free shuttle to JFK. Rooms are clean, beds are ok, and water pressure is fine.
The Hotel is not far from subway line F, 10 mins walk to 21st Queensbridge, so it's a good option for tourists who dont want to pay Manhattan hotel prices.
