The people are very friendly and quite helpful!
The people are very friendly and quite helpful! It's a beautiful everywhere! The Gingerbread Houses were spectacular! The food was superb. I bought the most delicious potpie I've ever had at a nearby farm store that I wish I could remember the name of. I also had the most moist and crunchy cod fish and chips ever. This was my very first trip to the island (that's why I can't remember the names, but I stayed at The Frankin Hotel Martha Vineyard, which everything was within walking distance from everything and I'll be returning throughout the new year and I plan on staying in Edgartown!!! Can't wait for spring!

Depending on how you like to vacation, this is a very good spot. It was close to all of the day trips we wanted to do. Our rental was like staying in a small house. This was helpful because we were on a 3-week trip and had over packed to begin with. We had looked at a camping ground, but the extra amount of 'stuff' we would have needed would have been overwhelming. It's vacation spot, so you will have to deal with traffic, but it wasn't as bad as Route 80 in Jersey at rush hour. There were a number of good restaurants, but the kitchen in the rental made it the best between eating out and eating in.

Quaint town with nice shops and restaurants, historical houses over 200 years old, nice small hotels (Sydney is recommended) and a beautiful sandy beach nearby. Edgartown is the nicest town in Martha's Vineyard. Renting cars is VERY EXPENSIVE (close to $400 per day) but the island has a very extensive public transportation system with several lines of buses that cover the entire island (except Chapaquidik) with swiss-like schedules.

If you've never seen Edgatown before it'll blow your mind the first time it's loaded with all these Oceanfront rich houses that whaling captains owned from the long-ago.
Money is definitely wanted in this small New England quaint town.
This is definitely a cool place to ride your bike without a helmet and it's even a cooler place if you take a bike ride down to South Beach or all the way to Oak Bluffs which is 6 miles of bike trail from the coast it's awesome

Such a beautiful town - wonderful for a relaxing vacation.
Such a beautiful town - wonderful for a relaxing vacation.
We climbed the lighthouse, went biking to Oak Bluffs, went shopping, ate at some FABULOUS restaurants (Bettini; The Dunes), enjoyed quaint breakfasts (Among the Flowers; Edgartown Diner) and had no trouble getting/using taxis to get around (Adam Taxi Co). The weather in September is superb and there are less crowds! We stayed at the Sydney and it could not have been a more perfect accomodation - beautiful and excellent in town location!

Proximity to shops, restaurants and beaches was perfect.
Proximity to shops, restaurants and beaches was perfect. Just walking around the neighborhoods was enjoyable. The homes and landscaping were lovely.
Relative to dining, we loved the deck seating at the Seafood Shanty. The bar help were superb as were the beverages. Among the Flowers Cafe was a perfect spot for something quick but we felt the need to move on when done. Had an anniversary dinner at Bettini Restaurant and we had the best meal and service there. The atmosphere was very pleasant too. Lastly our breakfasts at our Inn were elegant and leisurely. I would love to go back to the Sydney. I definitely will try their Restaurant but it was not open on a regular basis and that was disappointing.
We had the most amazing stay at the Edgartown Inn, we were only there for one night and wish we had more time. The location is central to everything you'll want to explore in Edgartown. The Inn itself is absolutely stunning, very modern and chic. The entire staff was beyond helpful and extremely kind. When we got back from dinner, we sat out back by the fire and enjoyed a freshly baked coffee and in the AM, they had a little breakfast set up (smaller items) but all included and thoughtful. Would highly recommend!
The location was fabulous - close to the shops and restaurants but very quiet. Edgartown is definitely the nicest place to stay on the island. We had a beautiful king room with a cute balcony which was perfect for wineoclock.
The staff were pleasant and helpful.
The breakfast spread was ok - fresh muffins every morning plus fruit and chia/oatmeal options. No warm egg dishes on offer though and it would have been nice to have been offered bread.
First visit to Martha's Vineyard, for a special occasion. Alison and the staff were just so pleasant, welcoming, attentive and helped make the all the "arrangements" work without a hitch. The location could not have been better, all the little amenities were just lovely, breakfast and snacks.....delish! We all felt very much at home and if I ever venture back to MV, I will be staying at The Sydney.
Attractively updated room in what I understand is a recently renovated hotel; on the upper floor this included a cathedral ceiling. Comfortable bed, good wifi. Location is several blocks to central Edgartown, but I found it walkable and pleasant. The attached Town restaurant had very good food and service; it was recommended by my Uber driver in from the airport, and struck me as a great amenity.
One of the nicest properties in which I have stayed. The mini apartment was comfortable, clean and very well presented. Lovely grounds, great facilities, ample parking, and wonderfully close to Edgartown centre. I received a warm welcome and the staff were very friendly. I would recommend the Edgartown Commons highly.
Lovely little place, rooms are clean and comfortable and it has a perfect location! Walking down to the front is just 10 minutes and Stop and Shop next door has everything you need. The hotel bar/restaurant ‘Town’ had excellent food too!
We had the most amazing stay at the Edgartown Inn! Great location, few minutes walk to the center of town and the harbor. The property manager is a lovely person, she helped us with activities and restaurants recommendations.
Comfy space, beautiful deck, quiet location. It is on chappy island so you have to take a small car ferry to get over the island from the vineyard. Which is both cool but also adds another layer of travel when going anywhere.
The island was beautiful and hotel was nice .. I paid 1.700 a night to sleep in a room with a view of the back roof .. very disappointed on the room view . Staff was nice but charged the rules according to guess.
Charming old whaling captain’s house with great character.
Great location within walking distance to downtown Edgartown. It offers a continental breakfast that was very good. Room service is available daily.
Quiet, private, well appointed, convenient to Edgartown. Very clean. Had a complete kitchen though we only used the Keurig and the refrigerator. The TV worked fine, the hot water was, well, hot.
The Kelley House is my favorite place to stay on the Vineyard. The improvements are stellar over the past few years with the new management/ownership! Can't wait to return!
