Had a few pools. Adjacent to the golf course, but you can't cross the golf course to get to the shore. On site restaurant and sundries for purchase, (Pricey...this is Hawaii and many items are shipped in...you can expect to pay for this). There is a grocery store about four blocks away, on top of the hill. One of the main things I loved was the sunsets and birds. One of my least favorite things was people walking right next to our patio. Would probably ask for a second story unit next time. A great feature the resort offers, is to ability to donate unused non-perishables to those in need. This is very helpful we had unperishable food that was unused and we needed to fly out. Hawaii does not let live produce or plants leave the islands. You will go through both regular security and agricultural security at the airport.

Nice quiet location. Some good restaurants and a grocery store nearby. Close to a bay for morning walks. Convenient for escaping to south side of island or up the hill to coffee plantations. Nice comfortable apartment. It was really easy to settle in there.

Lovely to be so close to the water, the free cocktails were nice, close to some restaurants. Room was clean and very comfortable.

Captain Cook is a spread-out sort of a place so it's difficult to characterise. There is an excellent pizza place there and a couple of other restaurants plus a supermarket and gas station. You can get down to the coast, but it's a steep walk. The coastline down there is beautiful.

Further away from the hustle & bustle of Kona, but has great little restaurants and a nice grocery store. It is a great little rather laid back town with historic places and good snorkeling/ swimming on quite a few beaches within 5- 10 miles.

Captain Cook is a lovely area - but don't count on actual beaches as in lots of sand! There is lava everywhere and people simply snorkel or body surf around it. There are a couple of small pockets of sand. Check out the cloud forest up in the hills, simply a hiking area that may mist more often than lower down. I've heard you can see sea turtles and dophins if you go early enough down to the bay, but otherwise there's a much nicer place to view the turtles, at least, north of the Kona airport, and at any time of day. The only long beach is by a hotel north of the airport.
And anywhere on the Big Island, there is lava! So.Much.Lava!

Kealakekua Bay offers some of the best snorkeling on the Big Island. The town has an array of grocery stores, restaurants and accommodations—and kayak rentals for snorkeling at the bay. There are also antique shops, coffee and mac nut farms to tour and several historic sites and heiau. A lovely historic town with activities for the whole fam.

Great hospitality.
Great hospitality. I have had a wonderful time in this place for 5 nights. The room we stay in is lovely and quiet. Every morning breakfast was wonderful at the deck with a beautiful view. This place is also close to Parks. I highly recommend people to stay at this place.

Sharon and Thomas were gracious hosts.
Sharon and Thomas were gracious hosts. Very informative about area. Made us feel at home and breakfasts were wonderful and full of wonderful fresh local ingredients. Room had everything we could want including beach items. Scenery was fantastic from their property.
Carl and Elma were exceptional hosts. From day 1 we felt very welcomed and cared for. There was an incident where the highway nearby was shut down and Carl called us several times to ensure we were updated and that we would be able to make our way back to the B&B. Breakfast each morning was delicious and the view was stunning! The B&B is about 30 minutes from downtown, but is a nice area if you enjoy nature and want to get away from the crowds. A good bonus is their very cute and friendly dog. Highly recommend!
Very comfortable room, spacious for 2 people. Hostess was very kind and friendly. Breakfast was awesome, felt right at home. Their garden was beautiful and they encouraged us to have some fruits from their trees. Theres a Mart in 10 minute distance, incase you need something. It felt like an upscale glamping experience to me, especially being so close to the nature. I highly recommend if you are looking for a homely hawaiian stay, but not if looking for a hotel experience.
We loved Hale-Hoola B & B and the lovely quiet location with nothing to disturb except frogs and some farm animals. We had a lovely lanai on which to relax and watch the ocean surrounded by a lovely garden. Our hosts were wonderful and gave us some great information about the area. The breakfast provided was a fabulous home cooked meal that kept you going all day. Hale-Hoola is very peaceful. We are so glad we booked here and not one of the bigger hotels.
The breakfast was simply amazing; the attention to detail in everything from the bathtowels to the the chairs and tables. The view was stuning.
Finally, the hosts were really nice and helpful people; and allowed my three young students who were camping at the other end of the island to stay overnight following a misadventure. Splendid property and human beings. Would definitely recomment over a hotel.
We liked just about everything. The frogs, or croakers as Carl called them, kept me awake the first night but sang me to sleep the last two nights. Elma’s breakfasts were fabulous, and she packed us a delicious Hawaiian breakfast burrito when we had to leave early on the last day. Kona hospitality and coffee! We enjoyed our evenings on the back patio right off of our room. I would definitely go back.
Breakfast was delicious with gourmet coffee. The private lanai had a nice view of park lands and wildlife. We borrowed some of the snorkel gear that they provided for guests. The location was convenient for getting to the Captain Cook monument and two step snorkeling. Carl and his German Shepherd Rex were gracious hosts. We thought Hale-Hoola was a great value for staying near Kona.
Everything was fantastic! Thomas and Sharon were so kind and knowledgeable about things to do in the area. The room wasn't fancy but nice and clean with everything you would need (including beach chairs and pool noodles). The breakfasts were incredible, there are cute cats and a dog to hang out with, and the view is perfection. Do yourself a favor and stay here!
I enjoyed the location, but I enjoyed meeting Kurt and Kana more. They were nice people and treated us well. The food was amazing. I never experienced bed and breakfast. This experience was very unique because we had fresh fruits and something new everyday. Thank Doctor Kurt and I hope one day we can met again. Mahalo!
The location is away from the hussle and bussel of Kona. They have a lovely farm where they grow their own fruit and veg.
The owners are very friendly and Mum is a fabulous cook.
The have two double rooms available that are very spacious and comfortable. They also have their own deck.
A wonderful stay, with fantastic hosts. Such a friendly welcome in an oasis of calm. A little way from Kona for those wanting to hit the town, but for us very worthwhile. Thanks to Ping, Stanley and Max for welcoming us into their home.
More private area than a hotel with beautiful scenery and fruit available to those who stay. Loved the big windows and private porch area to enjoy the sunset. Perfect room for our needs.
Everything was great! Delicious breakfast, Carl and Emma were super kind and welcoming. They also provided everything we needed to go snorkeling in the nearby bays (such as Two Steps).
The quaintness and views were awesome! The location was great to get to other places from Captain Cook area. We enjoyed staying in the Intimate Bungalow and would recommend to others.
We had a fantastic stay at the Kona Bayview Inn. Sharon and Thomas are perfect hosts. We loved watching the sunset from the patio, the delicious breakfasts, and meeting cats and dog!
Very quiet and peaceful. It was fun “living like a local”. Hosts were on-site and wonderful. Gave us lots of great ideas of things to do. Good location. Perfect for relaxing!
The property was on a hill overlooking the beach where Captain Cook landed. The view was breathtaking. Beautiful gardens adorned the property. Quite and peaceful.
