Breakfast was the best with the exception there was no fresh...
Breakfast was the best with the exception there was no fresh fruit and coffee was weak. Room needed to be freshened up including the drape that was torn. Also, shower head needed replacing, did not work well. Toilet worked but had an odd sound. Outdoor area especially parking lot had a lot of trash. Lots of dogs in my wing of the motel, barking & crying during supper time when owners were gone. Smoking and dog peeing right outside my room.

My trip was for a friend's funeral.
My trip was for a friend's funeral. This just happened to be in Brainerd. I didn't spend my time enjoying the town. Brainerd is a great town though. I have spent time there on many occasions.

A shadow of its former self, Brainerd has become a wayside...
A shadow of its former self, Brainerd has become a wayside rest to points farther north, an unfortunate result of the Highway 371 bypass project that was completed in 2000. If you find yourself within the city limits, make sure to stop at The Barn cafe for a Maid-Rite sandwich and a delicious slice of homemade pie.MarkUnited States
