Close to larger city, but far enough away to feel very country-fied. Loved the choice of restaurants within a very short driving distance. Can keep the trip very low-key or add a lot of interesting sightseeing.

We ate dinner at the Avon Old Farm’s restaurant two nights (Seasons Restaurant & Tap Room). Our dinners were very good, and the bar served excellent local beer on tap. We didn’t venture far for meals as our brief stay was for reasons in addition to leisure. Really enjoyed the setting of Avon Old Farms Hotel and its amenities. We’d certainly seek this facility out again if in the area.
We were able to include a visit to the Mark Twain House & Museum as well as the nearby home of Harriet Beecher Stowe while there, only a 20-25 min. drive away - great American historical sites. Getting around was easy with GPS.

The area was beautiful and the property was amazing.
The area was beautiful and the property was amazing. The only negative was the smell of mildew in the room I tried to spray but the smell didn’t go away. The bath tub and tiles was not great.
With a little update the place would be exceptional

Overall, it's located in a safe and quieter area.
Overall, it's located in a safe and quieter area. The rooms are definitely older but very clean and organized. The only complaint I have is the walls are very thin and the headboard on the bed does not seem to be bolted down so you can hear it when it hits the wall as well as your neighbors moving about and talking. The water in the shower was also affected when you flushed the toilet. In general it was a good place to stay for a night.
This is a charmingly old-world hotel with a variety of lounges and expansive grounds. The rooms we eventually were assigned (after paying a small up-charge) were lovely, comfortable and well-appointed. The rooms originally assigned were not so charming. Herein is the problem, we discovered there are three distinct categories of rooms. The photos and descriptions don't make that at all clear. The staff were charming at all times, both at reception and, later, in the restaurant.
The free breakfast offered every day but the weekends has definitely improved. Buffet style with eggs, bacon etc., and included with room price was good even though we ate just before they closed it at 10am. We are not eating in restaurants yet if we can avoid it so the first day the host opened the door to the outside porch for us. When it rained the next day we ate inside the mostly deserted bar area.
The hotel grounds are very nice and the woman who checked us in was great. The bedrooms were nicely decorated and the beds comfortable. Maintenance man was very nice when I had a pregnant brain moment and thought the AC was broken (I was using the wrong device).
This was a great location for our stay in Avon. The hotel was nice and clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and efficient. The room design was good with a small kitchen and a sofa bed. I will stay here again.
