Trang is a great place to get a taste for a real Thai city, especially before or after a stay out at the islands. After our trip out to the Koh Mook and Koh Libong, a stay in Trang provided a different, but equally interesting experience of city life in Trang. Beautiful landscapes surrounding city and the food scene is crazy and amazing (as with much of Thailand)! We had just one night here and a little under a day, which was a perfect amount of time for us to rent a scooter and explore a couple of cool sites in the area (Khao Chang Hai Cave, Weaving Center), visit the night markets, and experience the famous Trang dim sum breakfast. My husband and I definitely thought Trang City was worth a visit!

City with a lot of delicious food, a lot of charm landmarks. Beaches are not as beautiful as Krabi, Phang Nga or Phuket. However, its islands is quite remarkable. Moreover,you can travel to Trang by train or air from Bangkok. If you are looking for cultural tourism, you will like Trang.

Trang is quiet and natural province. Visit Trang Church for antique holy church. Excellent food taste there is the legend, and island is superb. Grill Pork (Moo Yang) is different taste but in a great Chinese-herb great style. 'Hongchai' is good for the original grilled pork-chicken-lever rice and 'Trang Old town' is good for black coffee and old pictures. Recommend you to wake up at 6am and find the city fresh market downtown to buy 'Ko Paow' grilled pork for sweet-less and oil-less pork in case you want to taste a nice healthy food. Tae-tieam (Chinese breakfast style) in Trang is one of the most famous meal, please try it at Jae Nok restaurant or just ask local to find a good one. Please spend 3-4 days hanging around koh Kradarn (Kradarn Island), it is quiet and private place (don't forget your sun block). It is also good for trekking and canoeing with a crystal clear ocean. Takes some food and water with you in case to kill some expensive food there. Be prepare with some anti-mosquito spray.MaethawinThailand - 10Scored 10

What I like the most:
What I like the most: 1) cooperation among people in the city : we went for "Trang Maraton 2019" event, everywhere we go, people kept asking "do you come for running?" and they gave discounts for hotels, restaurants..etc. Also, they have student shows along the running path :D 2) A lot of beautiful beaches to travel 3) A lot of suggested food and drinks, tea was very nice! 4) very nice people! What I dislike : Hard to find public transportation! the best way is to rent a car

The staff were excellent and provided a free taxi shuttle to the botanical park 5 minutes away. The park is free to visitors after 3 and well worth a visit as it has a huge waterfall running through it which was great fun to explore. She advised us on activities while we were in Trang, offered us snacks and tea/coffee, and even dropped us off near the night market. The guesthouse is very attractive, and she maintains a lovely garden on the property. Laundry service was very fast and cheap. Rooms were clean and nicely appointed. Doesn’t serve breakfast itself, but the authentic cafe Kopi 1942, next to the hotel, does serve an excellent breakfast. The lady at the reception is very reliable and helpful (made arrangements for us to park our bicycles when we went to the south by bus for a week) and speaks English very well. We loved our stay at Ban Ao Thong.
