Really great place to be out of the madness.
Really great place to be out of the madness. We stayed at the Royal River Kwai which was stunning. It was quiet, there was bird song. We took a river tour and went to an elephant sanctuary where we fed the elephants after helping them wash in the river and walking with them in the jungle. We didn't have enough time to do the train trip too and the main town area looked fun to check out - which we didn't have time to do either. We stayed 3 days here - I would recommend staying 5 or more - especially if you want to have days where you do nothing.CaitlinNew Zealand - 10Scored 10

Kanchanaburi was a fun place to stay for two nights.
Kanchanaburi was a fun place to stay for two nights. Erawan waterfall was definitely worth a visit. I was there in early March and other waterfalls in the area I was told might not be worth the trip due to having less water. Erawan has much less water this time of year than the rainy season, but it was still a very beautiful place to visit. I enjoyed the railroad museum and seeing the bridge over the river Kwai. There are good food and coffee options in Kanchanaburi and the train from Bangkok was a fun (but hot) experience.

We loved a 2 days stay at ElephantsWorld!!! That was the most incredible experinece so far in my life. The elephants are not chained, they walk around on their own, and after the afternoon visits leave the place you can stay alone with them. We also loved Erawan Falls a lot! And of course you go to see the River Kwai Bridge. But we could have stayed for a week or more in the region - it is beautiful!

Apart from the attraction of the Commonwealth War Graves(...
Apart from the attraction of the Commonwealth War Graves(including many Dutch graves), the Bridge over the River Kwai and the War Museums, it is quite a large town, but without much to attract the average tourist. It is the gateway to the surrounding area with lovely countryside and other War memorials etc. But it really is not a holiday town.

They go above and beyond! We arranged a boat to pick us up from hotel steps on river and go out for the day. Very reasonable prices. We will definitely return when we come back to Kanchinaburi. The bridge is a 7 minute walk away, we are at the floating restaurant under the bridge every evening. Amazing Thai food for good price. We loved everything about our stay.

Staff terrific especially the front desk young lady named Amp. Very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. I was very surprised to learn she began work at the hotel only a month ago after finishing a program in tourism. She acted as if she had a lot of experience.

The location is very close to the bridge over the Kwai and is situated on the river. The food is excellent and very good value. It has a very good clean pool for swimming. The hotel is very close to many bars and restaurants. I must mention Ann in the restaurant and May at reception who were superb and deserve special praise. In my opinion this is the best hotel in Kanchanaburi. Will definitely stay here again.

Bed is very comfortable and sheets very clean. A/c is cold and shower is hot. Rooms very nice. Staff are all friendly, and Mink was especially nice and helpful. The rooms are very clean. Breakfast was good, and they have free water in rooms. Also served coffee and food. Would recommend this hotel. Good position and good price. Also has outside seating area and car park.
