The location of the hotel is great (the road to get there is a different matter and is nothing the hotel can influence). The receptionist was lovely but overall I have to say the staff was not very friendly or helpful. The room size was good and we had a little balcony facing the lake. It was great to get a free kayak for one hour as part of the stay.

The hotel has a very nice atmosphere, and the staff went out of their way to help us with a tour on Good Friday (a day when everything’s closed), which was the highlight of my trip, so thank you!! Very helpful and friendly. Location’s perfect, could not have been better. Bed was very comfortable and was lucky enough to share the dorm with only 1 other person which was lovely. The fan works perfect. Free water (and coffee) all day. Totally recommend!!

What a lovely hostel!!!!
The people are so friendly and the food is great.
I had a private room and loved how it clean it was (finally a room WITHOUT cockroaches) and a hot shower.
Hammocks, a small pool, roof terrace, makes you want to hang out all day and have some chill time.
I do want to mention that if you walk the wrong way there are a lot of drunks trying to get your attention. So just keep the direction of the cathedral 😊
It was nice to meet other travellers and take a trip to the volcano together.
100% recommend Casa Verde.

You see a lot of crap online of wether or not Santa Ana is safeS we had zero problems and never felt unsafe at all. Santa Ana and El Salvador in general have made huge inprovements in safety these last years. The town is nice , you'll strugle to find a building with more than 2 stories. It has preserved it's old world charm. Not supermany things to do or see but a good base to go exploring from

The road especially the side streets are horrible.
The road especially the side streets are horrible. Needs a traffic officer in all the main road that are under construction even at night. I closed my eyes hoping that my husband won’t hit a vehicle as he drove on tight traffic areas. I’m worried that our rental car won’t break down on the unpaved roads- lots of rocks and open pits.
The Santa Ana people are very helpful and kind.

I really liked the Santa Ana Cathedral.
I really liked the Santa Ana Cathedral. As an amateur photographer, I also liked the colorful and dilapidated buildings around the cathedral. They made a great backdrop for street photography. Unfortunately, I spent only a day here so I was not able to see or do many things in the area. It is a great location to jump off the Ruta de las Flores though. I’m definitely happy that I decided to start the route here and not from San Salvador.

Santa Ana is a medium sized city tucked in the mountains.
Santa Ana is a medium sized city tucked in the mountains. The market is fun to explore and cathedral and theatre are gorgeous. Outside of town there are ruins, volcanoes, and a lake within an hour. The town doesn't have much tourism which gives it a more authentic feel, but also means you won't find many good restaurants around the square or at night.
Rick is exceptional. He helped me with planning my three days in Santa Ana so well. It was so much fun to rent the motorbike and to drive around to all the interesting spots e.g. the volcano, the ruta de las flores and the lake. But how he helped me and my friend when she got seriously injured was outstanding. He was available on the phone within no time. He arranged a transport to the nearest hospital. And even the transport back to Santa Ana when my friend needed to get stitches. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Great location on Lake Coatepeque, with access to the lake itself. The hotel is beautiful and has a really cool set-up. Some rooms face the garden and some rooms face the lake and they were all beautiful and spacious. The staff were very kind and helpful and worked hard. The included breakfast was delicious and all the other food was also really good. The prices were expensive for El Salvador, but in the end worth every penny.
Fantastic property. New, clean, spacious rooms, each has a fan and a tele. Very secure property, padlock for each room and gates into property locked. Well stocked kitchen, very clean. Chairs and hammocks outside to relax in. The staff were fantastic, super friendly and helpful. Good wifi. Good location - restaurant/bar attached, near local market, 15-20 minute walk to town centre, short walk to local bus to Santa Ana Volcano.
The lakeside location is magnificent. The staff is incredible, super friendly and hospitable. The hamburger, fries, and fresh watermelon juice I ordered from their onsite restaurant was delicious. Great location for a trip to hike Santa Ana volcano. Great deck to lounge on with swings, hammocks, tables and chairs. Also, jet ski rental is available, so I went jet skiing! Such a great experience and way to see the lake.
Super sweet little hostel in between the two different markets in Santa Ana. Perfect location to prepare your own food in the well equiped kitchen or to get some streetfood.
Breakfast was awesome and with something different everyday. All-day coffee in the kitchen. Carlos was a dream and always has a good advice or idea for your day.
The have nearly everyday a tour to the vulcano and the lake which is a good trip.
Great comfortable stay in Santa Ana, big and well stocked kitchen, breakfast was excellent. Hosts were very welcoming and flexible with moving dates so we could head to Ruta de las Flores for a night. There was a double booking mix up on their side so for our last few nights we were moved to their other hostel (Altea) which is very new, closer to town and has great facilities. Highly recommend staying at either!
Great new hostel with a lovely vibe, free coffee, spacious areas to hang out and a big kitchen. The owners are lovely locals who took us to a beautiful waterfall and on a coffee tour, all for free. It's located within walking distance to the local markets and bus stations, which is useful. I will be staying here again next time I go to Santa Ana :)
We loved our stay at Pool House Hostel, Adri and Roberto were wonderful hosts and such lovely people! Adri helped us with all our bus routes around Santa Ana and the Ruta de Las Flores, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The hostel itself is so cosy and Coco and Blackie are the cutest pets!
Amazing location in Santa Ana!!!! This Hotel is very close to the City Center. You can walk to the Cathedral and their main Theater. Their is a lot of Restaurants, banks and stores. The Hotel is very private and the staff are very friendly. My room very nice and clean with my own private bathroom. Great Value!!!!!
The location is great, right on the lake. The room was clean with a great view. The shower was hot with a lot of pressure. The food could be better ( the nachos are terrible) . The staff could be more attentive, Except for Irving he was the best … he worked so hard and always was making sure if we needed anything.
The staff was so friendly and helpful. Customer service was just amazing. The rooms were clean. The AC was great! And the breakfast was delicious every day. The location was perfect. There were many shops and restaurants around the hotel. The city center was also walking distance.
I will stay here every time I visit this great city. The hotel was clean, the customer service was amazing. Location was great, was in the center of many things. No need for cabs, so many businesses walking distance. Bonus tip: Get the breakfast deal, the food is delicious.
It’s not everyday that you find a hostel in a former president’s house, but that’s what you got in Santa Ana. Pedro José Escalón used to live here in the beginning of the 20th century. It’s a beautiful house - a bit run down from the outside but certainly majestic inside.
I stayed 4 nights and enjoyed my stay there. All the staff were amazing and super friendly. Nice breakfast served in the morning. Close to the city centre. Warm water in the shower. Recommended for a stay in Santa Ana.
luis is a fantastic host. the most kind and hospitable man. this is a quiet, charming place to stay, close to town, comfortable and perfect place to go and explore El Salvador from. thank you for a wonderful stay.
Excellent hotel. The staff were amazing and very helpful in a few items we needed to get done. Laundry service available and for a great price. Cold ac, hot shower. Secure 24 hour parking. Excellent wifi.
Excellent location just a couple of minutes' walk to Santa Ana's main plaza. Comfortable accommodations. Breakfast served in the small beautiful courtyard was very good.
