The grounds are very beautiful and peaceful. Secure for our truck and trailer with motorcycles. Ample parking. Rooms nice size. Apparently cook had not shown up for breakfast time but whoever the staff were were extremely efficient and whipped out a good breakfast very quickly as we needed to get on our way. Would definitely recommend this place for the price.

There is 3 main tours each taking a full day.
Kuelap, Karajia & Gocta.
All were great, the drive to and from these locations is not too far and the history is great and of course Gocta is a highlight for me (I did the 2 tier hike instead of just the single tier, longer day but I was there for Gocta and hiking so wanted the full experience).
As for Chachapoyas itself, it is great to be able to fly there (the airline is ATSA), because i didn't want to spend a long time on buses. The town itself is very well kept, very colonial style and clean, the locals are very friendly. It was nice to sit in the main square of a night and just enjoy the atmosphere. But, once you have had a small wander there is not much else to see in the town. Unlike other places that seem to have many landmarks to see or street carts to eat from so you can do something a little different each day, Chachapoyas didn't have this (in my opinion). This does not make it a bad place, just there was nothing else to do for me as a tourist other than the tours each day. So my trip was perfect with flying in one day, having 3 full days of tours and then flying out the next.

Chacha is great place to go see the surrounding area from. Kuelap, Gotta, a couple of mummy museum things, plus all the conveniences of town in a very walkable area. If Mass Burger is open, get a burger and the Mocha Frappe.

There are many siteseeing places around, it is easy to reach there with local tranportation which is cheap and friendly. We have visited the most wonderfull waterfalls, the Kuelap ruins. We could have visit the sarkofags and many more thing if we had more days to stay. Be sure that if you go to a trip outside chcachapyas it can be a day long activity, it seems that things are close but actually the roads are curvy and it takes time to get from A to B. Most of the time you have to change buses to motos etc...

Chachapoyas is a really beautiful city. I like it so much.
Chachapoyas is a really beautiful city. I like it so much. Most of their streets have an inclined plane so it could be a little difficult for people who aren't acquainted to walk in this way. The landscape is amazing. There are different tours you can do in this city, but everything depends on your available time.

The city itself is quite relaxed and not too touristy.
The city itself is quite relaxed and not too touristy. There are hiking options in the area which I definitely recommend. Gran vilaya and Gocta for example are 2 great hikes. For gran vilaya you will need to do some work to arrange it though, since there are not always guides available. If you want a good guide for that trek: try to reach SpecialCloud travel agency.

I like the community at the backpackers and town.
I like the community at the backpackers and town. Everyone was so friendly. The kitchen could have been bigger since that is where everyone liked to meet but we made it work. Getting around Chacha was very easy. I can't wait til it becomes a bike friendly city. I would avoid going to Kuelap on Mondays. They are closed for cleaning.
The hotel was in a great location for restaurants, shops and tour agencies and less than a 5 minute walk from the central square. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was hot. The best thing about the hotel was the staff. I had lots of problems with my luggage which didn't arrive and they made many phone calls and sent many messages to help me get it back. They couldn't have been more helpful or kind and, as a result, my luggage was waiting for me on my return to Lima.
I think it’s a new property (?) everything was so well curated and the room was fantastic (esp for the price we paid!) staff was very professional and attentive. Made our evenings better with complimentary drinks and snacks too. They even gave us our room at 7am in the morning when we came off the night bus with no early check in charge! The hotel has a hook up with a fantastic tour of Kue Lap with an English speaking guide - highly recommend!
It's quite far from the center which wasn't an issue as we had our own transportation. Located right on top of a hill, overlooking the city so the views were amazing !! The place is literally still being built so you have to be understanding of the unfinished state of the hotel but the owner was super friendly and the price was very reasonable so i can definitely recommend this as a clean, safe option in Chachapoyas.
This is a home shared by a wonderful family that are so inviting and hospitable. I had only planned on staying a few days, but ended up being there for over a week and it honestly felt like I was 'home.' This place does not have all the fancy amenities you can find in a hotel, but if you don't care about that nonsense and are only visiting Chacapoyas to see the sites, then I can't recommend this place enough.
The hotel is in the center of Chachapoyas and near the main bus station. Clean toilet, shower and room!. Because we had to leave earlier the next day, the owner prepared breakfast for us :). The only thing that could be a little problem was the window in our room. We couldn’t close it. Besides that, everything was ok 👍.
Wonderful and helpful staff
Very very clean
Very comfortable bed
A great shower
All the comfort of the hotel, all the warmth of a hotel - with a roof to sit even with a kitchen for self use.
Location is pretty good - four blocks up the hill from the main square.
Definitely a great location, in Chachapoyas main square, a block away from the market. We could also find plenty of tour guide companies around. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. There are also rooms in the first floor for easy access.
The hotel is situated right at the main plaza of the town. It's a beautiful colonial building. The staff is very helpful and amicable. The rooms are cozy and clean. The price-quality ratio is fantastic!
Chachapoyas culture in general is amazing, really authentic Hostel experience, Horus is really adorable,AMO The kitchen, hot showers, the hosts are very helpful.
It is not luxurious but It is better.
The hostwas very friendly and explained how to visit local sites and we have stayed one more day more as we loved this place and there is so much to see around Chachapoyas. I really recommend.
